"Danish leisure carrier Primera Air plans to become the next low-cost carrier to enter the transatlantic market.

Beginning April 19, Primera will fly daily from Newark to London Stansted. Daily flights from Newark to Paris de Gaulle and Birmingham, England, begin May 18.

Primera will also fly four times per week from each of those European cites to Boston. London-Boston flights begin on May 18, Paris-Boston on June 21 and Birmingham-Boston on June 22.

Flights are advertised on the Primera website for as little as $99 one way, but ancillary costs will be high. The checked-bag fee is $45 each way, advance seat assignments will cost no less than $45 and standard meals will cost $40...."

This is the same as with Norwegian Air which we'll be flying nonstop from Hartford to Edinburgh to visit friends this fall. However, it's such a short flight that we don't need meals, and we always only take a carry-on each. Still debating about paying for the seat assignments. Norwegian also has a bundle for $70 (I think) that gives you the seat, meal and 1 checked bag, which is less than buying individual extras.
