Hello,

I'm leaving for Dallas on a business trip on Monday (9/15). I know it's about 250 miles from the coast but should I be concerned with Hurricane Ike? Will there be of people getting sanctuary there (I don't want to get in the way of any aid efforts).

thx...

Ike is expected to hit the TX coast early Sat morning. Any evacuation of Galveston/Houston should be long over by Monday. As Ike moves north it will lose intensity fairly quickly. Dallas is now predicted to have some wind and rain from Ike. I would just keep an eye on the weather channel, especially on Sunday, to see what the situation looks like. Chances are pretty good that your trip won't be impacted.

Ike in North Texas

Your business trip to Dallas on Monday should be OK. Just watch for local areas of flooding in low areas. The bulk of the evacuees are arriving today and should all be safely in shelters across the Dallas - Fort Worth area by then. Ike is expected to be down to a tropical storm with 45mph winds and rain when it goes thru town Saturday night. By Monday it should be a tropical depression well north of Arkansas.

A good web site with lots of information is www.stormpulse.com. Check it out.
