I have an ongoing search with RCI for a 3 bedroom for spring break (March 31st start date). I just rec'd notice that I got a match for a 3 bedroom at Cypress Pointe for my date.

Would you "accept" this? We have never stayed at Cypress Pointe before. I prefer top floor units and note that there are no elevators. We will have 4 adults and 2 children (10 & 12).

We are NOT going to Disney - maybe SeaWorld.

Comments?

UPDATE: SEE MY 2ND POST BELOW - GOING TO RELEASE THIS UNIT - WILL COORDINATE RELEASE SO SOMEONE ELSE CAN GRAB IT. LET ME KNOW.
UPDATED: UNIT HAS BEEN RELEASED.

My favorite Orlando resort (but realize after nearly 20 years of ownership & serving on the Board since 1998 I am a touch biased).

One thing I know for certain it has one of if not the best locations in Orlando. The resort is the centerpiece of a much larger planned development also called Cypress Pointe. Because of that there are areas of fountains & ponds shared by the community & no spot zoning of a fast food place or gas station in the middle of the otherwise beautiful landscape. It also means you can literally arrive, park the car and walk to virtually anything you'll need from stores to restaurants & other services - even Downtown Disney if you're up to a 1 mile walk, Plus, nearly unique to Orlando, it is pedestrian friendly!

The resort itself is built out. It won't grow, won't shrink - it is a nice, mid-sized resort that you can easily walk around & it shares all common amenities with the Grande Villas Resort next door. So you get a great sized intimate resort with three pools and many other amenities not always found in smaller resorts. It is NOT a mega resort where you are miles from real restaurants, stores, etc and requires a car just to get to other areas of the resort. It is made up of 8 3 story buildings - it is an easy climb to the top floor (and unfortunately I have now experienced being declared "handicapped" yet I can easily get to the 3rd floor if I want that. I usually pick floor 2 but that's me).

There is a beautiful, recently renovated Clubhouse with a new Cafe, Gane Room, Exercise Room, Gift Shop and more. A great recreation / picnic area across from the Clubhouse and the signature Volcano Pool & brand new kids Dinosaur themed playground behind the Clubhouse.

The units have recently under gone round 1 of the 2010 renovation which gave them all new tile flooring, built in cabinets in the kitchen's & baths, granite counter tops & tub/shower surrounds, a brand new 2nd (smaller) bedroom layout with a queen sized bed and more. Round two of the work is scheduled for 2012 with more improvements & upgrades.

You are 10 minutes from Universal, 8 to Seaworld and 5-15 to the various Disney Parks. It is an ideal location with a beautiful & current resort despite being built nearly 20 years ago. It maintains the "old Florida" resort feel - no mid-rises here - yet has all the expected newer features & very well maintained.

I thonk you'll like it if you decide to trade in.

When I vacation Im not too concerned about the "quality" of the room itself. For me its all about whats outside of my room...(If all I wanted was a clean room and comfortable bed, Id stay home). Sometimes its the resort's ammenities, and sometimes its the area outside of the resort.

So you got what you want...not exactly, but close..and there is no guarantee that something better will come along...Id take it

We have owned here for 2 years. Have 2 visits under our belt & reservations for next October. The 3 bedroom unit is perfect for 4 adults & 2 kids. There are 3 pools to choose from & lots of activities for kids of all ages. My kids are college age & loved the shuffleboard & tennis courts.

We also like that there is a nice grocery store right around the corner & lots a good restaurants you can walk to.

As John said above Seaworld is an easy drive especially if you learn the back way via Palm Pkwy & Turkey lake rd & avoid the highway

The rooms are nice at Cypress Pointe. If nobody minds the stairs it is in a great location as well.

Update

Thanks everyone for the replies. Unfortunately, I rec'd a call from my daughter this morning and there is a chance that they may not be able to come for that week after all.

She advised she should know better after Oct. 15th.

So, I'm thinking of releasing the unit and also cancelling the ongoing search. IF they decide they can go, then I'll start another ongoing search then.

The only reason I was looking for a 3 bedroom unit was because they were coming down. Normally I wouldn't think of going to Orlando over spring break!

DOES ANYONE WANT THIS UNIT? IF SO, I'LL COORDINATE RELEASING IT SO YOU CAN GRAB IT. IT'S ON HOLD UNTIL TUESDAY, OCT. 4TH.

Hand down my family would accept this trade. Great location to everything in the area. Units have been update in the past year. We do not own at this resort. However, we have exchanged into this resort over three (3) times in the past.
