Just went to an update at the Wyndham in Kauai. We were offered a certificate for a "free" week at any Wyndham resort to attend. Of course, I first had to pay $50 dollars to register for the "free" certificate. I just got home and had a chance to download and look at the certificate. It is from a company called CSNG. It provides a list of locations, but there is no indication that these are actually Wyndham resorts. It clearly states that the this is not a "free" certificate and that a fee of about $199.00 will be required. It also states a refundable deposit of $150.00 is required, but it is unclear how you get this back. Reviews on the Better Business Bureau site are uniformly terrible. Most state that booking is a nightmare and a slew of extra fees are typically added. So this certificate appears to be a complete scam. Anyone else receive this "free" certificate? Anyone actually attempt to use it? Thanks

It is not just Wyndham. Vidanta offered something with a slightly different flavor. . It was up to $2000 credit to use at any hotel on the website dislikes company. Important part is the up to. The breakfast I got for the presentation was worth more than that certificate I received. Essentially, for you, it was free for them to give it to you. After that, drop it into the nearest trash can you can find. You will get better cash deals on II or RCI.

I got something similar after a Westgate timeshare presentation. You had to pay a fee to register, a refundable deposit. You also had to submit a list of three locations and three dates that you were willing to travel and they would just pick something for you. The places you would stay would just be a local hotel, not a resort, not a timeshare. No thanks.

The Florida Better Business Bureau site has over 200 complaints CSNG. The whole thing appears to be a scam. As I noted above, they indicate you will be charged a fee of "about" $199.00 to pay for taxes, fees, etc. However, most complaints indicate they were charged a lot more. When I called CSNG today, they acknowledged the charges could be more than $199.00 but wouldn't say how much they could be. Said it depends on various factors such as the destination, quality of the resort, time of year, etc. So basically, they can charge you what they want for what was advertised as a "free" vacation. I will try to get the $50.00 I paid for this "free" certificate back from Wyndham. Will see what happens.

Did you pay the $50 to Wyndham? I thought it was a fee charged when you activate it with CSNG?
