I was reading Pam Keystone's Marriott Vacation Club log and found a piece of interesting information from one of her March blog entries. It relates to the travel protection insurance that MVCI offers from CSA that covers maintenance fees and exchange fees if you have to cancel for a covered reason.

Per her blog entry, the insurance only covers the operating fee portion of the maintenance fee bill and not taxes and replacement reserves. We don't purchase the insurance, but I know that several people here have and I believe some have actually made claims (Brian?) against the policies. If anyone has made a claim, what was your experience with the coverage?

I have used the CSA insurance, although the M.F. issue never came up. Basically our flight was delayed by a day and we lost a day in Hawaii at the Hilton. The requirement is that some portion of the trip has to have a Marriott related product (we were also stay at Waiohai in Kuaii later in the trip) They covered our all our meals the day the flight was cancelled, including breakfast the next am, and any other costs associated with 1 lost travel day which amounted to about $175.....

Dioxide, good find!

Maybe I'm not getting what Pam said correctly but the cover of the contract she displayed:

Clearly says "Maximum Limit per Reservation". I took that to mean reimbursement can be anywhere from 0-100%.

Based upon this, I wouldn't neccessarily expect a guaranteed 100% reimbursement on every claim.

Am I interpreting this correctly or do others see it differently?

I did make a couple of claims with the II insurance afew years ago...the max coverage was $1000...and paid promptly once all the forms were completed, including the doctor's sign off. I haven't had a claim on the CSA insurance but i buy it instead of II's for the additional coverages.
