Cruz Android Tablet now $70 on Woot.com by Nate Hofellder/eBookNewser

Woot is having a sale today on the Velocity Micro T301 Cruz Tablet. This 7″ tablet has a capacitive touchscreen, and it’s running a slightly older version of Android on a single core CPU. It has Wifi, speakers, and a card slot, but it doesn’t have Bluetooth, a camera, or access to the Android Market.

This was a budget tablet when it was released last year, and you can now pick it up for $70. It isn’t the best tablet on the market, but it is still a great tablet for the price. If all you need is a basic eReader then this will fill your needs adequately.

I got one of these about 2 weeks ago at Big Lots for $69. I was surprised by it - SDHD slot and a mini-cable slot. Nice screen and decent touchscreen key pad. Has WIFI built in, but have not dragged it down to McDonald's to check that out. Will automaticly change screen orientation by movement of unit. Wish I had gotten 2. Glass screen.

Pickup the $99 netbook from CrystalView Android Netbook. Not as easy to use, did have 2 USB ports, can change screen direction with a click to a APP on the screen. WIFI login saved is allow for 1 userid/password. Was just not as easy to use as Touchpad. Took it back.

ADDED: Might be a slightly older model - T102 - as that is on the back of it; packaging states "Special Edition".

When they say it does not have access to the Android Market, what does that mean, exactly? Does it mean you cannot install any apps? Or is there a way around that?

The tablet has some pre-loaded Android Apps. However, the Marketplace App is not on the tablet - so you don't have access to all the Apps in the Marketplace. There is a link that enables one to download the Marketplace to Android devices - but it doesn't work with all devices, so I'm not sure if it does with the Cruz tablet. There are also non-Marketplace Android Apps but exercise caution with these - higher probability of also getting some type of malware.
