Crown Park in Gatlinburg is now charging a housecleaning fee for a timeshare week- 1BR:$35, 2BR:$45, 3BR:$50 PER WEEK . I just saw this on the RCI site when I did a search. Before confirming, you might want to call the resort. If I exchange, I feel the owner's maintenance fees should cover normal cleaning fees.

Either that or allow exchangers to opt out.

Marriott does not do a mid-week cleaning and, since we've owned (2001) I don't rememeber them ever offering a free mid-week tiddy. Marriott does offer cleaning/maid service for a fee and has for a long time. I don't believe that Hilton has a mid week cleaning either.

I suspect as HOA's try to hold down MF's, you'll see a lot more nickel and dime extra's that use to be free.

To the far end of the spectrum you have Polo Towers which offers daily maid service. Unfortunately for us owners of Polo Towers, our MF's are through the roof for the quality of amenities offered at that resort.

The fee at Crown Park is not new, we got stuck with it last February. I think it was only $25 for the one bedroom last year.

IMHO, it is just another rip off by the timeshare industry. i would understand if we were there on points and were only there for a few days, but we were using a week's exchange.

for that and other reasons, we have sworn off of Crown Park.

While I have no comment about housekeeping fees at Crown Park, it did remind me that when I was in Gatlinburg this past October there were no timeshare sales hounds trying to push that resort, and the sales office was closed. I understand the resort is up for sale. Times are tough for the timeshare industry.
