I used to credit pool my points and then make reservations, cancel, and then put those points into RCI. Is that still possible with the change Wyndham made to cancellation points?

Nope. They go back to CP, which can't be deposited.

Dang it. Are there any loopholes anymore to do this, or do you have to only deposit that current use year's points?

You can deposit 10 months ahead of your use year, so assuming you have a Jan use year, now you can deposit any left over 2015 points, and all your 2016 points and in March you can deposit your 2017 points

hers what it says on the website

"You may use points to deposit into your exchange company beginning 10 months prior to your Use Year Start Date, up to the Use Year End Date."

Thanks. I am out of 2016 and 2017 points. I had credit pooled them the past two years and have used them. We did just buy another resale 189,000 points, but the transfer is taking a while and the transfer company is expecting them to go through within the next two weeks. My use year is January-December, but the new 189,000 points have a March use year. Hopefully they will go through soon, and I will have 189,000 points to work with in about two weeks.

I have 162,000 points in RCI now, but if we get a match for SSR, I will need two units. I won't have enough points for that. I do have three reservations for Glacier Canyon that I could cancel (total would equal 120,000 points). Since the reservations are for 2016, would they go back as 2016 points, or will they go back as credit pooled points?

That depends on when you made the reservation. If it was prior to the changes in late August, they should go back as regular points for 2016. If it was after that, they should go back to the credit pool.

The reservations were made in September and November. Thanks for the advice.

It would not hurt to ask to get the cancelled points in the regular use year. I just called about a cancelled reservation that was made prior to the change, but cancelled after it. The cancelled points came back in 2015, even though the ressie used pooled credits. I called and was able to get them to convert most of them back to the credit pool. You are coming from the other end, but as I said, it does not hurt to ask. At worst they say "no" and you invested maybe 20 minutes of your day.

Thank you; I was considering trying that strategy today. :) I'll post and let you know how successful I am.

I called Wyndham's title services today. Our paperwork and check were received on November 10. Today the title department is working on items received October 30. The representative said it ,ought be another four weeks (12 weeks from the time they received it). I need the points to book the second RCI unit so I called back in to talk to a vacation planning counselor.

Long story short, i was able to get w vacation counselor to change the end date on my previously credit pooled points. I don't think that the supervisor would have allowed changing cancelled points (I had to cancel to Glacier Canyon units for this summer), but I was pleasantly persistent that title services was taking 2-3 times as long as originally stated by Wyndham and that I had matched two times with RCI, but didn't have the points. I asked Wyndham to make a one time exception since when I booked the units, I was unaware that you could no longer cancel them and then use those points to be deposited into RCI. The counselor was able to cancel two reservations (40,000 each) and deposit them into RCI for me. The whole process was a little over an hour, but now I at least can confirm a second unit in RCI.
