I'm wondering how much the 3BR 13k pts affects any of the other trading platforms (like if you also enroll in II or the new DEX) very much to be worth the higher purchase cost etc vs the 2BR at 11,200 pts? Inside of HGVC points, I'm not sure the extra 2000 pts really will make a huge difference for me given I'm usually doing 2BR anyway, so I wouldn't really get an extra week without paying to save and borrow etc. Of course if I'm being stupid about my estimate of the HGVC pts side let me know...

Are the DEX tiers vastly different or seeing stuff in II?

I prefer Tier 4 for DEX unless you know that you want to use it for a tier 6 exchange. Many, if not most, exchanges are Tier 4 or 3 so you don't want to exchange a tier 6 for them.

Check through the Destination Escapes catalog to pick the resorts and tiers that work best for you.

I have Peak Summer 2 bdrm, 11,200 and get Tier 6. Same tier as a 3 bdrm (and lower MF).

Tier 6 great for Hawaii, Cabo and Tier 2s because you can split a Tier 6 into two weeks (good for Embarc Palm Desert, Panorama Studios, Europe). Overpaying for Tier 1, 3, 4, 5.

Tier 4 best for Tier 4, 5 and 1 resorts/season. Overpaying for Tier 2, 3, 6

Was this confirmed to work? Do you have information on how to do this?

Is there another thread on here that covers MFs for all the units?

I assume you are referring to splitting. Yes it works. You must call it in. They will make your Tier 1 or 2 reservation with one and then you get another Tier 2 week in your account for future use with same expiration. (Kind of like lockoffs in the MVC/Vistana system except you cannot deposit half into DeX and keep half in the SO points system, or rent out half. All or nothing deposit.)

A Tier 4 splits for two Tier 1s. Not sure if there are any Tier 1 sweetspots. I did not see any that work for me.

You cannot upgrade a split to a higher tier so that split tier is the max or lower.

Not sure what Tier 5 splits into.

Yes. Look at Sticky’s or hgvcmfs.com

Tier 6 splits into 2 weeks in which tier?

So from @HuskerATL chart above: In general, a Tier 5 *could* technically be more effective if you plan to only book Tier 2s or Tier 5 without upgrade.

However the only Tier 5 on the Craig chart is High Season 3 bdrm. The MF are higher for 3 bdrms than a 2 bdrm Peak which gets Tier 6. So 2 bdrm peak for Tier 6 is superior and gets same splits.

You *might* have lower purchase price than a 2 bdrm peak because you are on shoulder season but I haven't researched that. It is a tough needle to thread because I am also not sure about HGVC points values on such units.

If you can, look at DEX or get folks to look for you at the properties that you would be most interested in and the unit types. The tier that you would use the most can drive the Craig week to buy.

If you plan to use Tier 6 units often, then I would get a tier 6 week but if most are Tier 4 or lower with an occasional Tier 6, then I would get a tier 4...1 bed plat that is a peak season week.

To figure out optimal tiers for exchanges, here is the DEX EU guide for Craig Owners:

FYI...Here are the latest USA DEX weeks and The Club DEX Guides.

@GT75 can we place these DEX guides in a sticky on the HGVC or HVC forum since these are handy references?
