With the luck of a negative COVID test, and no more canceled flights, we are planning to be in Maui for Thanksgiving this year. It will be the first time in decades that I'm not cooking family dinner for 40 people, so I've never paid any attention to what's open and what isn't for the holiday. I know right now things are mostly closed and just opening up. Hopefully end of November there will be more options. For anyone who has spent Thanksgiving in Maui, pre-COVID, what are the dining options for Thanksgiving dinner? Not looking for a luau, but if there were a good reason, I guess I could be persuaded.

Congrats, 10spro, for being able to spend Thanksgiving on Maui! We were there for Thanksgiving a few years ago, which now feels like a millennia ago. The larger restaurants were open for the holiday, as were the hotels, of course. What's most important is that you make a reservation now for Thanksgiving depending on how you want to spend the holiday. Some restaurants had special menus for Wednesday and Thursday, and then they closed on Friday. Some had special menus for Wednesday and Friday, but were closed on Thanksgiving. So check the websites of the restaurants that interest you to see if and when they are open, and make a reservation. (You can always change your mind and cancel, if you want to try another restaurant.) Merriman's is one of our favorites, but dinner is quite expensive. The Plantation House was closed for the holiday, so we ended up staying close to Kaanapali and eating at Hula Grill. Have a wonderful time! CJ
