Could not make reservation at Sea Watch Plantation for July?

Last year I attempted to make a reservation for Sea Watch Plantation in
Myrtle Beach. At 12 1/2 months out I thought it would not be an issue.
Needless to say, when I called the CSR, all month of July was booked
up. Here I am an owner and could not get into my home deeded resort.

Later I found out that all the Myrtle Beach resorts have the same APR
privelges the same as my request. Many folks were trading in from both
the Westwinds and Ocean Blvd. It appears that there is a strong desire
to go to Sea Watch for a variety of reasons.

ALso, at this year's members update, I was told there was a program to
exchange your deed from one's original resort to another, specificlly
Sea Watch, for a fee which was stopped due to overwhelming response.

Based on these two events I'm wondering if there are now more owners
that weekly spots for an owner to reserve?

You don't know how upsetting it is to not be able to make a reservation
at your home resort when you want to go there, especially 12 1/2 months
away. I was told by someont that you must call 13 months out, on the
morning at 8 AM to ensure your spot?

Is this behavior consistent with the timeshare management practices?

Thanks in advance.

1.Talk to your POA, ask them under what condition they allow this happen. Check with local state board to make sure they understand this is a part of oversell situation.

2. Ride on other resorts in that area.

Buying more points does not help you. Transfer all your points to one or the other resort in that area does not help you. If you can not get the unit, you can not get the unit. You need to call at 13 month see if it improves

Call in exactly to the day of 13 months. That is the only way around it. Don't wait for 12 1/2 months. You lost 2 weeks of other owners booking ahead of you.

The resort should not have more owners than units to house them, I have not found Wyndham to be in the practise of overselling resorts, although I have heard about it in Mexico and other places.

Ocean Blvd owners trying to save points often trade into Seawatch as the units are significantly less points than Ocean Blvd.

Westwind owners perhaps want more activities, although the points at seawatch a slightly more than the westwind units.

But think of it this way, everyone who owns enough points to get a summer week at Seawatch wants a summer week. Some owners may own less than a full weeks worth, but if you knock out even 6 months worth of owners, now there is no way that 6 months of owners can fit into a 2 month window in the summer. Add to that the fact that Ocean Blvd and Westwinds also want some of those summer units. Someone is not going to get a unit. That is why Myrtle Beach has a Rotating Priority List (page 279).

Is there anything left in August?

I booked Mid June '09 Seawatch stay for my brother using a RARP at the 11 month mark. There were Mid June '09 seawatch units left in Mid July '08. I did not want to wait until August '08 for a July '09 week, because I figured they would be no units left at the 11 month mark. Apparently I was right because you could not even find one at the 12 1/2 month mark.

Unless the HOAs remove Mrytle Beach as a single points location for booking and ARP purposes and change it to each resort has their home resort at 13 and a RARP at 11 months, you will have to plan better and mark your calendar. Sorry.
