There is a stipulation that to rent a car via Costco with either Enterprise or Alamo, one must show an itinerary or boarding pass indicating both incoming flight and a return flight. No trains. We fly into CDG, spend a few nights in Paris, then take the Thalys to Amsterdam for a river cruise. We fly home from Zurich. A poster on another forum suggested no worries about the return flight documentation- just find one that works and enter the # in one's personal itinerary.
What are Tuggers thoughts? The price difference is a savings of @120 euro.

I didn't realize I could get a rental in Europe from Costco-thank you for that info.

Before Covid we rented a car through Costco at CDG. No problems at all....don't remember the car company or if we had to show anything. I DO think that if it had been complicated, we would remember that.

The same stipulation is on Alamo's website with a warning that if the correct information is not provided the reservation will be void. I emailed Alamo to see if our return flight out of ZRH will be acceptable, but no response within the last 72 hours. I think we'll stick with Hertz unless Alamo replies OK.

I see it's been a while since you’ve posted, but I just wanted to ask if anyone ended up using Costco for a car rental at CDG recently? I’m looking at options for next month and wondering if their deals are still decent compared to booking directly with the big agencies. Also, did anyone run into any issues with insurance coverage through Costco when picking up in France?

We ended up using Hertz, rebooking several times to obtain a lower price. It's been over two years, but I seem to recall that we were able to get the car before the time I'd stipulated (possibly due to being a Hertz Gold member?) since we breezed through passport control. The agent commented that typically we'd have needed to wait until the time selected for pick-up.

Last year I rented from Paris Orly via Autoslash/Priceline (as it was much less than Costco) and there was no mention of proving departure.

I also rented through Hertz a little over year ago and had no problems. Problem was trying to find entrance to drop off luggage at CDG Sheraton hotel. Never found the entrance driving with car around airport. So returned vehicle at Hertz and rolled luggage through rental car lot to terminal and then to Sheraton CDG. CDG does not make it easy as I saw no signs saying Sheraton entrance.

I had the same questions when I was renting in September. I ended up renting away from CDG where I was staying, but returned the car to CDG.

I had trouble finding the entrance to the Sheraton inside the terminal. Signs for everything else. Then noticed I was standing practically next to it. Staff told me airport won't let them advertise their presence.

When we rented a car at CDG last year, we flew into CDG but on the return, we were not flying out right away as we were staying on in Paris for a few days, The verbiage on the Costco website stated to show proof of our flights but no one asked us for anything. We had a heck of a time finding the entrance to return the car even. We circled twice LOL.

We had rented a car that had limited mileage but we were able to pay a small daily fee to get unlimited mileage.

Beware of the speed cameras in France. You WILL get a ticket in the mail, some months later. First a notice for a hefty fine from your car rental agency and then the actual fine.

Is it easy to drive from CDG to Disney Paris area? We will stay at Marriott timeshare a few miles away from Disney Paris and plan to drive car to Reins, Vaux-Le-Vicomte, then return car at Disney Paris location before train to Lyon

We have driven to and from that Marriott timeshares from CDG. It’s very easy.

@melissy123 Could I ask which rental company you use and whether rental is more reasonable for a week from CDG vs 2-3 days at Disney Paris location? Thank you.

@pinetree1 We used National but through Costco. We needed a car to go to Normandy and Mont St. Michel first so I never compared rates at the Marriott Disney location.

Yes, it's very easy once you've found your way out of the car rental lot which is quite confusing (Paris Orly is equally as confusing as well). Pretty much motorway most of the way and as you get closer to the resort the area consists of quiet, very well maintained roads that are easy to drive on. The whole area surrounding DLP and the Marriott resort is immaculate and a pleasure to drive in which is in stark contrast to the south of the country.
