We have been points owners since 2010. I have never had such a hard time booking.

How do you get into the Costa Rica porperty? I have been trying and it is always unavailable, though I see you can go and rent it through the website and pay cash?

Also how to do trade into a disney resort? do you have to convert into II?

Than you

What exactly do you own? Is it fully enrolled so it can be used in Abound? Some basic answers to questions like this will get you better responses from Tuggers.

We only own points - we own about 5000 points. We usually book Hawaii (as we do not care aout the island or when) and it is no big deal, now our kids are bigger we would like to try other resorts and we can never find availability for Paris, Costa Rica or many others and I am looking all the time for whenever. Then we went to a presentation and they said we could trade into Disney now....but I can not figure it out. The sales people are not really that helpful :(

The MVC in Costa Rica is a small resort, circa 28 units IIRC, and was sold as weeks, so any availability with Club points requires and owner to elect for when you want to go. Try wait listing at 12 months, that might work. Same for Paris, but its a bigger resort and there is more availability.
For Disney, yes you need to do that via II. You can log on to your II account and do a request first to ensure you get what you want before yo give up your club points. Beware that only DVC Orlando is available via II, no matter what sales told you. Typically they release inventory 5-6 months ahead,
Forget asking sales people they are only interested in selling to you not helping you with using your ownership.

The problem with Costa Rica is MVC is selling weeks there. So you are relying on owners to elect their weeks for Club Points or you rely on MVC putting some of their own inventory into the system. This can make it a hard booking to get, but you can try waitlisting for it. Paris is the same. In fact all international resorts and Custom House work this way. They have no inventory in the points trust. So, you are relying on owners to elect their weeks for points.

You trade into Disney via II.
You can use the points directly for a points exchange on II before the points expire.
or you can have MVC convert the points to a week and then do a week exchange. A deposited week,is good for 2 years.

@Threewed I have been successful at collecting a few nights by constantly checking and grabbing nights as they become available. I saw that inventory appeared as it got closer to within 60 days of checkin.

Use the waitlist feature. International inventory is not owned by the trust and thus is rarely available on release day. It gets added sporadically as owners elect their usage for points instead.

Costa Rica is very small with only 24 units. So it’s tough to get. Waitlist request is your best bet.

As others have stated, Los Suenos only has 24 units so you need to have flexibility in timing and unit size. We have been 2x (2021 for 13 nights and 2023 for 7) and go back next week for 7 nights so it is doable. This time we wanted a 2 bd but could never get one so we were fortunate enough to get a 1 bedroom and then I was able to find a studio on Bonvoy using our 2VC discount code so it ended up being $201 per night for the studio. I have requested they rooms be together so if all goes well I will have a 2 bedroom. If you do get in and have extra time, fly into Liberia and stay a week at the JW before driving down to Los Suenos. The JW is an amazing property, 20 minutes from Tamarindo and if you have status, you can use your suite night rewards. They just approved my upgrade to a 1 bedroom 1300 sq ft suite, ocean front. Enjoy!
