Yesterday I started baking. This is unheard of for me. If I start cleaning the windows people should be worried.
know the feeling. We came over to our downtown condo for a change of scenery. I have this overwhelming desire to run the suckuum cleaner around. Not that it has even gathered a trace of dust since we were last here.

At least I am saving on not having housecleaners and carpet cleaners.
We cancelled our housecleaners for the month, but sent them a check.

Yes. We did the same but will not have them back for a few months.

I booked for May, but that could change, and probably will. If it does I'll pay them for May as well.

Ours is a large service so I don't feel obligated. They will receive government stimulus money.

Ours isn't. It's a husband and wife owned business. I'm not sure how many employees they have. I also have no idea if they have, or plan to, apply for small business relief.

All of you with housekeeping services - who ARE you people? I subscribe to my Mother's housecleaning practice: After four years, the dust doesn't get any worse. LOL! :ROFLMAO:

Just kidding. My OCD sister is staying with us, and she's a housekeeping machine. P.S. Have I mentioned how much I love my sister right now? :D

There have been two of those block thingies you attach sand paper to on my back porch for a year. The other day I mentioned to Cliff that now might be a good time to sand the tops of the little outdoor drink tables (they are maybe 18" square) since he'd been thinking about it for a year. Of course he didn't remember he'd been thinking about it! So yesterday I had to chase him off the back porch and outdoor rug with the sanding project, and since Sunday is the only day we get a physical newspaper I suggested he set up the painting project on newspaper in the garage where there is plenty of room since we went down to one car at the end of February. I didn't know he'd planned on spray painting the tables, and of course there was only enough spray paint for a single coat (and Lord only knows how old that can was), so now he's all excited to go to Home Depot. I know he'll be in their garden section too if it is still accessible.

I don't mind dust. If I did I wouldn't be living in New Mexico, lol. We had a neighbor who dusted daily. The woman had way too much time on her hands. I asked her once why she bothered since it would just get dusty again.

But, as for having a house cleaning service. I do like certain things to be done on a fairly routine basis. And I personally HATE doing housework...........and cooking. (That's why I do all of the vacation planning, lol). And laundry, I do the laundry. But I digress. While dh and I were both working we had a cleaning service come in a couple of times a month and we'd keep things up in between. We didn't want to spend our weekends cleaning since we were already doing all the rest of the stuff that needed to be done. When we retired we figured we'd have the time and could do the cleaning ourselves. That may have lasted about a month. Discovered we still HATED doing housework.

I was teasing. I'm not a fan of housecleaning either, but the Navy taught me well. I'm pretty good at it. I've learned if I get it done right, and keep it up regularly, things stay pretty clean. But now, with my sister staying here, she does need something to do with her OCD energy, and every time I turn around, she's cleaning something. Initially I though it was because she felt I'd done it wrong. I've learned since it's just her way. So who am I to argue? Everybody wins. :)

I knew you were teasing. There are a lot of things I probably could do for myself (color and cut my hair, or even let it go natural......................naw). But I choose not to. I figure I'm worth the expense.

Wish you could send your sister here.

I have had so many cleaning services that never lasted because they did things that were plain wrong, like using my vacuum cleaner and breaking it into 2 pieces, no kidding. Anyway, after our move in 2016, we finally decided to hire a cleaning service, through a company of course. They provided 1 service just before the SIP. We were happy with their work but now the service is in limbo. I don't know if the company will survive although they have been around for 30-40 years. So I am back to housecleaning again. It is not hardship although it is not something which I enjoy. I am just more meticulous than the professional cleaners and take longer to do the work.
