So I own a week Harborside week 52 unit 4725--phase 1. Each year when I put in my reservation I always request that unit number but I know it is not guaranteed as it is a fixed week but not fixed unit. However this year the reply was that a corner unit could not be guaranteed--first time I was told this in ten years of ownership. I replied that the corner units in phase 1 were sold at a premium due to the balcony and that since my deeded number is a corner unit that is what I expected.
For those of you who are long time owners or early on owners isn't this your understanding of these units?
I always request this to be put in my reservation because I know this is a sold out time at the resort and I know guests are always hoping to get these units.

Unfortunately, the quality of the Reservation Reps, and their knowledge gets worse all the time. You simply cannot depend on what they tell you.

I think you are just getting the generic answer that they use for everything, regarding requests.

At this point, I'd use the message function on MyStarCentral, state the issue briefly and make them respond in writing.

If they respond incorrectly, I'd call and insist on speaking to Owner Resolution Services.

Thanks--the reply was to a written message on Star Central--very frustrating--I did reply to them with the unit number showing it is a corner unit--I am like 99% sure that corner units were sold as corner units--I think this does apply to other units in general.
I also e mailed the Starwood VP that I bought it through in hopes he can clarify it.

Have you talked to Owner Resolution Services? - They are far more knowledgeable, and can research the issue.

Nope--is there a specific number for them?

No - you have to call the regular number and ask to speak to Owner Resolution Services. Most of the time they have to call you back.

mariawolf- just wondering, is yours considered an Ultra Premium Week? I purchased one resale that is Phase I 2 bed corner unit and it's considered an Ultra Premium Week. My reservation has the unit number and it is automatically booked a year in advance without making any phone calls. Hopefully it will work out for you if you contact the front desk. They seem to try to accommodate people as best they can.

Our Phase 1 "Ultra Premium week" corner unit works exactly the same as Weimaraner explained. Our other end unit is not designated Ultra Premium, so that unit location floats.

So the vp at Starwood tells me there are no event weeks except Hawaii/Colorado/st John and part of Cancun.
I have never had this issue before but what I don't get is that the corner unit that I own so could not have been sold as a fixed unit for week 52 because that number is on my deed. I don't own the premium side only the corner deluxe for that week. He also said that they try to assign you the villa on your deed or one that is similar if you are using your deeded week and arrival day.
So again don't get why this is a problem all of a sudden this year.
This is how my other week 1 has been handled--if I don't get the unit on my deed I do get a 4th floor unit in building 7 with a marina view.
When we bought villas were sold at differing prices based on the floor you were located on.
Apparently the request for a corner unit was put in the remarks so we will see what my son gets when he checks in today
Guess I will go to owner update and ask about this.

I agree probably not but want to pose the question about how units are assigned and see what they say--can't hurt to ask--and I am guessing they still have inventory to sell == although can't imagine buying from them since they sell for pretty much nothing as resales.

I honestly don't think you can get accurate info. from sales - you will get a better response from the front desk manager or the inventory manager.

I agree with Denise. Sales will tell you an answer that they think will make you more likely to buy, doesn't matter if it is true or false or even if the salesperson has any idea what is true or false.

If he thinks you aren't going to buy regardless, he will either tell you whatever he thinks will get you on your way the quickest or whatever answer will make you feel worse about yourself and your purchase if he is annoyed at you for wasting his time by coming to a sales meeting when you don't want to buy.

The salesman has no interest in helping you learn to use what you already own.
