Does anyone really enjoy this aspect of timeshares anymore? For that matter, who thought this was a great idea anyway? We’ve stayed in very few other accommodations where the bathtub was out in the master bedroom rather than in the bathroom were one could have a little privacy.

I suppose my feelings about tubs being in the corner of the bedroom rather than the bathroom are colored by the fact we are older and don’t find them “sexy”. With the aging population, I wonder just how many timeshare owners find them exotic. Personally I’d rather have practical. For that matter, we haven’t filled up one of those tubs to take a bath in several years. For that matter, with over 26 years of timesharing behind us, I bet we’ve only used the, a handful of times, simply because they lack all practicality.

Is it just me? I’d much rather have a luxurious shower in a larger bathroom than a jetted tub in the corner of the bedroom. I certainly don’t need mirrored walls around the tub to remind me that I could stand to lose a few pounds. How many people really use these dinosaurs?

I have a huge soaking tub in my bathroom and I haven’t used it in years. Most of my neighbors with a similar floor plan have removed them. There is a particular timeshare that not only has it in the bedroom, but it has the only shower in it and is right next to the bed. I hate it.

since I had my knee replaced, I can get in to that kind of tub, but I am not sure I can get out. And I do not enjoy what I see in the mirror either.

We stayed at a place that had one. We never filled it because we figured it would make the whole room hot and humid.

My daughter bought a house with a jetted tub. It was almost impossible to get all the mold and mildew out of the jets. When she remodeled the bathroom, she replaced it with a claw tub which they love.

We have a huge jetted tub in our master bathroom. We also have a walk in shower, Guess which one we use, lol. Steve asked if we should remove the tub. I said no, as I don't know what we would put in instead.

I think you need to look at the era when most of these were built. Replacing one of these isn't cheap. Though it could be cheaper long term than the maintenance. As for the mirrors. Same thing. This was a thing many years ago.

These were a big selling point in the 1990s and 2000s. I am sure when people toured the units back then they were all ooh and ahh over them.

10 or 15 years ago people started taking out Tubs in the Primary Bathroom and installing walk in showers. Now Buyers are wanting at least a basic tub in the Primary Bathroom. We have 2 Bathrooms. In the secondary Bathroom is a shower. In the Primary Bathroom is Tub/Shower combination. Though we seldom use the Bath Tub we will never take it out.

Not all buyers, lol. We have had tubs and separate showers in our last two homes. We never used the tubs in either. The house before that had a very small master bath with only a shower. We were fine with that as well.

While I have little use for a tub, my BIL loves tubs when he can't get to a hot tub, or wants to relax in the unit. That said, I don't think he cares or my sister likes the tub in the bedroom. She's constantly asking me why and IDK.

We have a huge corner soaker tub in our master bath. Never use it as we designed in a hot tub right outside our master bedroom. I've thought it would be nice to replace it with a sauna, but one side of the corner has a casement window which we can't really get rid of as it's the only natural light in the bath.

Here is a prime example of what Doug is referring to. Mirrors and all. Taken in a One-bedroom Grand unit at Westgate Town Center in Orlando.

Some phases of Sheraton Vistana Resort have them in the master bedroom as well. Though I think all the big tubs at Vistana Villages are in a separate room though not necessarily directly in the bathroom.

Westgate Flamingo Bay in Vegas has the same type of tub in the master bath and no separate shower in the master. At our ages getting into that tub to take a shower is dangerous. We just use the shower the other part of the unit. I wish they would do away with it but I guess the cost factor is the reason they don't.

When we moved into our last house in 2010, I absolutely did not want a tub but put one in the master bath anyway because a future owner with dogs or kids was sure to need a tub. We never once used it. Even tried putting the kitty litter pan in it (after protecting the tub from scratches) but the youngest cat said no way was he getting into the tub to get into the pan. The others were fine with it!

I would never use one of those tubs, given how old they are and how likely the cleaning of the jets has been neglected! when our kids were young they loved taking a bath in one of those giant tubs..almost as much fun as a swimming pool!

I never used a jetted tub in a timeshare or hotel that I didn't first fill the tub with hot water and run dishwasher powder soap and bleach through the jets for about 10 minutes. Then filled the tub with cold water and ran the jets to rinse. When we had one in our own home, I did the process depending upon how often we used the jetted tub. I still like having a separate tub and shower. This house has a free standing tub. I only have a desire to use it in the Winter or if I am suffering from muscle aches.

As for corners, I don't like anything built-in in a corner. Not a tub, fireplace, TV or bar. When I'm looking at houses for sale in the MLS, as soon as I see a corner fireplace or tub, I click out and look no further. Just a thing with me.

I built a new home 3 years ago. 3 bathrooms.

Spacious walk in showers in both en suite bathrooms.

The 3rd bath has a standard bathtub. I only did that for resale purposes bc I feel like every house needs a tub for bathing young children or even pets. If it were me, I wouldn’t want any tubs at all!

The beautiful free standing soaker tubs are going out of style bc people are realizing they are very difficult to get in & out of.

Back to the original post, that kind of setup in a hotel / timeshare is so weird & dated. Time to update!

My sister has 3 sons. As they got older she chose to replace the tub with a shower. Fast forward 20 years -- they sold their home to downsize. Purchasers stipulated they wanted a tub because they had young children.

These are passe. Used only once after skiing to soothe aches a few years ago because the hot tub was out of service. Have had many rooms with but never use.

My friend replaced the small tub in guest bathroom With a shower. It looks great but it cost her $10000.
some people in my subdivision have taken out the tub and but in a closet but to be honest, it crowds the bathroom and loses the aesthetics. Some have replaced with a shower and then turned the original shower into a closet. That looks a lot better.

We have a jetted tub. Don't use the jets, but I do clean the tub's jets out every week by running dishwashing detergent and half a cup of clorox bleach and run the jets.

Rick likes to take a bath, so do I, but I like a shower just as much. Rick has back problems, and his bath water is ridiculously hot to soothe his aching back. It's better than surgery. He also has a massage chair, and a heating pad for those tough back-breaking evenings of TV watching in his recliner. :giggle:

Corner bathtubs in the master bedroom??????????

Seriously? I've never seen this and otomh never heard of it. Ridiculous to me, but people do what people do and plenty of what they do is bat-bleep crazy.
I'll guess they were all the rage in LV & Orlando, reminding me why I have zero interest to vacation in LV & Orlando. Well, make that negative interest for Orlando. I suppose there are circumstances that could get me to LV. Orlando? Inconceivable.

Long time ago, while house-shopping, saw sort of the reverse. In a very nice house, a huge closet full of very nice suits and dresses in the bathroom, right next to the huge shower. Had to wonder about giving expensive suits and dresses a daily humidity bath, but can't say I came to any conclusion. It was not a selling point for the house we did not buy though.

Good idea. We should do this to ours. We rarely use. Now I understand why several of our neighbors have replaced with claw-footed tubs without jets..

I've seen them in plenty of timeshares not in Orlando or Las Vegas. Perhaps your post was just to figure out a way to dump on Orlando and Las Vegas?

Yes they do. The twins loved the one at Cypress Harbour. They thought it was a swimming pool with a slide. Hilarious.

My wife really likes to take baths, and I am sure she uses the tub more often than the shower at home or on vacation. She is usually disappointed if our room does not have a tub. However a nice freestanding or decent sized built in tub is best. Don't need the jets or giant two person tubs. Those just take forever to fill anyways
