Read the Starpoint primer but need to clarify several things since we are every other year owners. :wall: Am I correct in the following assumptions?

If we own Westin Mission Hills two bedroom every EVEN year and (1) want to reserve the large one bedroom in February 2010 and (2) convert the small one into Starpoints:

1. We must reserve our two bedroom one year out (Feb. 2009); and

2. Request conversion of the smaller one bedroom to Starpoints sometime after Octobe 1, 2009 (and pay $99 fee for conversion).

If I am wrong, can someone tell me the correct procedures? Thank you!

You have to convert the unit to Starpoints by March 31, 2010.

You should not reserve the side that you are converting to Starpoints.

[Deleted info. about Staroptions since the OP is asking about Starpoints.]

1.) Reserve only the portion that you want to use for 2010.
2.) You can convert the other portion into SPG Points anytime before 3/31/10

Then, for 2012, you can convert the large portion in the SPG Points and then use the small portion for SVN or home resort usage in 2012. You just cannot convert the same portion in consecutive USE YEARS....

You should not reserve the side that you are converting to Starpoints.

You will not be able to use the Starpoints for a 2009 stay, but you can use them in 2009, to make a 2010, reservation, at 8 mos. out from your desired arrival date.

So for a Feb. reservation, 8 mos. out would be sometime around June.

Denise, are you sure you can only use SPG Points 8 months out? I understood that the 8month reservation window only applied to when you are using StarOptions for a full week reservation (or more)

I assumed that she was make a one week reservation - if it's less than a week, she can only make it 90 days out.

(Sorry - I'm talking about Staroptions, not Starpoints.)

once you convert to starpoints before march you may use them as soon as they get into your account which is 72 hours.
