In case anyone is booked on Continental out of LGA, esp. after Dec., check your reservations.

Yesterday I thought I was so smart; JetBlue just released their Feb. schedule, and the return flight from Aruba was $80 more pp than Continental's, so I booked JetBlue to Aruba and Continental non-stop back, saving $240 for 3 tickets and proud of myself. Supposedly it was the last 3 seats at that price, so curiosity got the better of me and I wanted to see how much I saved by booking yesterday. Well, I had a not so nice surprise- there was no AUA to LGA flight. So I checked- they rerouted me a little later (ok), still non-stop (good) but now to Newark, which is about another 45 minutes and would be a real pain, since we were flying out of JFK. I could have easily taken a car service to and from JFK or LGA, but if I was flying out of Newark it would be quite expensive and inconvenient. If I had booked a round-trip ticket I could have driven and parked at Newark which would have been a bit of a pain, but this way it presented a real hassle.

What is infuriating is that there was no notice and the rep. wasn't offering to even try to help me out- very nonchalant, with basically an "it's too bad" attitude. Luckily, I was still able to get seats on JetBlue for the return flight (last 3 at that price too) and the aggravation was relatively minor...but if I hadn't checked I would have been really peeved.

Just wanted to forewarn anyone with Continental flights out of LGA.

You might want to book a one day, one way car rental from Newark to JFK. It will probably be less expensive than a car service. I have found Hertz to be most reasonable with one-way rentals, as there's no surcharge. Enterprise adds $100 to one way rentals!
