Right now they are doing something quite close. The noise level is deafening. They arrive at eight and start up. They ride the elevators with the guests too. I would not book here until the construction is finished. Rci was unsympathetic

Sad week. Attacked by the 305's, brush fires in Golden Gate creating smoke. and now a tropical depression on the way. Hurricane season is starting early this year, and we are SO HAPPY since there are NO HOTELS available to evacuate to if we get a major storm. Sometimes Paradise ain't all it's cracked up to be. Be careful what you wish for.

You forgot to mention the love bugs
No, I mentioned them several times Did you have them down at the beach? I've never sen them here before, usually more of an in-land thing. Like 31 from Ft Myers to Arcadia. Everyone's windshield is covered.

My front porch was covered for a few days this week, but now they are mostly gone. What a mess!

We're happy they don't work weekends!. We're checking in Saturday so we'll have Saturday, Sunday and Memorial Day with peace and quiet. We'll schedule fishing and other excursions Mon-Wed so we'll be away from the property during the day.

When we were there, they arrived Saturday morning. Also no excursions were open. But maybe more places will be open.

Saturday as we tried to check out, housekeeping left a bundle by the door, extension cords ran up and down the walkways, buckets were quite near our door for cement debris and the men were quite nearby working. I couldn’t maneuver luggage cart into room, and it Was a zoo outside our door.
as long as you leave before eight and don’t return until after four you won’t hear it, or maybe they will be sensible and not book the units on the floor under construction.
I wish you well, but everyone staying was quite put out, of course not nice weather and everything closed contributed. People who had important calls were upset, someone had an interview they couldn’t complete, etc.
warning. Rainy season started early and it rained yesterday and today this week already.

It is Tuesday morning and it just started up at 8:30 AM. Concrete saws and drills. The three day weekend was awesome even if the weather wasn’t great. It’s beautiful today and we will take a drive up to Naples, Sanibel and Captiva. Excursions are operating again so that will be our plan for tomorrow.

I walked around and checked the scope of the work. They‘ve torn away large patches of concrete and the rebar is totally rusted through. I’m glad I’m not an owner here because this is a big project that is going to take a long time and cost a lot of money.

When I was acquiring hgvc Marco Island a few years back, when I walked the property I said no way as it was apparent to me lots of upkeep work needed to be done on the outside. I didn’t even go look at the units.

The interiors of the units are actually in pretty good shape. This project is going to November so maybe make a reservation in 20201.

i Was told they were working on surf club too, and could hear the noise when walking past.
you are talking a long drive going up to captiva, which I never made it to. Wanted to go during the lockdown but the virtue hawkers kept harping on only absolutely necessary travel. Traffic was building up when I left sw Florida, how is it now

Well, there have been no special assessments, and they have not communicated any plans for one. This was scheduled work, so I believe the cost was planned and is coming from the reserves. That is one nice thing with these HGVC properties, as they manage their reserves well and rarely if ever have special assessments.

It takes about an hour to get from Marco to the toll plaza for Sanibel. During season, it can take almost another hour just to get from the entrance to Sanibel all the way back on Captiva to the entrance to South Seas Plantation. Left turns are a killer. Then it depends on what's going on in terms of restaurants open, available, etc. We used to go up there quite a bit, but not so much since they upped the toll to $6.

When I was on Marco, my phone popped up with a message saying 58 minutes to my home in estero, it did take me an hour to get home, that is between 45 and 50 miles, but only 22 Miles on I 75. Google says hour twenty to sanibel and hour forty to captiva, but that would be light traffic On the island

Took a nice long drive today and got back as workers were finishing up. We had lunch in 5th Ave in Naples which was wonderful. We then drove to Sanibel and Captiva, traffic wasn’t bad at all. We loved Sanibel and Captiv. The homes on Captiva were just off the hook and the sand and water was amazing. Sanibel had more shops and bars and Captiva was just beautifu.

I can imagine during high season that drive is awful on that narrow two lane road. We bought some cheap beach chairs and umbrellas at Target and will use those on the beach tomorrow rather than renting the crazy price umbrella.

We brought our owns chairs and umbrella, but two days in a row it came right out of the ground and flew down the beach. We have used that umbrella for over 15 years and never had that happen.
a ladies group went on a boat trip in March a few years ago, from captiva. The drive home from captiva to Estero took Three hours!

That’s why I’m a low season traveler. I live in SoCal so don’t need to escape any winters. The heat doesn’t bother me.

Here’s a photo of the North building. You can see they’ve patched the inspection holes and are now painting.

We’ve still got some grinding and cutting going on in the south building but not as bad as yesterday. Gorgeous day. I’ll be on the beach!
