Confused with II

I've never used II; own Westin Kanapali. Was messing around with the II website and checked to see if I could look up possible exchanges. It listed what I owned (2br LO) and was able to see some available exchanges - and nice ones (my 1br would have gotten me 2br marriotts in some very nice locations).

The confusion for me is that I've used my 2008. II website shows them as "available". I assume this means "available" if I have them to deposit.

This seems like a vary convenient way of seeing what's available prior to making the decision to deposit my weeks with II.

Am I missing something?

(BTW, called II, they were not able to answer any of my questions)

Hi - II does not know if, or when, you use your ownership, so your current week will always show as available for exchange, even if it's not, because Starwood and II are affiliated. If you tried to do an online exchange, it wouldn't go through. To actually exchange your week, you have to call Starwood Owner Services and ask them to make a deposit for you.

I'm going to move your question to the Starwood Board, because the are some unique rules about depositing a Starwood unit with II. For complete info., see the Starwood and II article in the Owner Resources Sticky at the top of the page under the "Exchanging" heading.

The only time II will not list the current year's week available is when you have deposited the week into II. They ( II) will then know you have used the week.
