Leaving tomorrow for three weeks in Cabo :) I am considering taking my laptop but am concerned about it being stolen. Do you take your laptop? Do you take any special precautions to protect it while you are there? Am I crazy to consider it? I see lots of people with them using the Wi-Fi at PB Sunset Beach.

Once owned these: FirstFairway@Walden X 2; Lawai Beach; ManhattanClub; PuebloBonitoRose; 4 South Africa--now timeshare-free
We've taken our laptop to the PB Rose on several trips there and never had any problems. We've never had anything stolen from our rooms and my son and his friends have had laptops, electronic games, ipods, and cell phones with them.

laptop

I have never had a problem anywhere we have gone.
Take along a laptop lock and while it is in room secure it to non movable piece of furniture.... Does the trick.

Laptop on Vacation

That's almost like taking hamburger to a banquet. Don't you go on vacation
to relax, or just to work in different surroundings. I used to do the same thing untill a Mexican gentleman in Cabo asked me the following question.
"Senor if you die tomorrow what will happen, will someone take over your business or job" Made me stop and think, now I don't even take a camera, seems to much like work.

I take my laptop on vacation, but it is not to work. I use it to scope out local attractions, restaurants, get maps, etc. -- and of course to catch up on TUG! There are many more uses for a laptop on vacation than "work".
