Comparing points systems

Has anyone seen a chart that compares the various point systems (FF,BlueGreen,WM,VI,etc.) and how many points are needed to get comparable weeks, i.e. 2br red week Hawaii or 1br red week Mexico. The price of each points system retail is easy to find out, but what those points will get you is much more difficult. I know by doing a lot of research you can find this stuff out, but if it has already been done it would sure be nice.
Thanks

For FF, in this board, just look up, there is a sticky.

If a system has enough resorts, it will take books to put them together. If you know which resort chain or where you are looking for, then it will be easier to find someone to answer.

A very rough estimate: a 2 br red season week in a relatively older US resort except for Hawaii (usually GC or RID) costs 154000-189000 ff pt, 9000-10000 BG points, and 10000-12000 WM points. Newer and fancier reorts cost more. Another thing to compare would be MF.

The problem with trying to build a comparision chart is that it is virtually impossible to put all the fine points of each system into the chart. In fact it takes most people quite a while to learn how to most effectively use a system once they have bought into it. It is those differences, IMHO, that really make the difference and determines how well a system fits your particular needs.

HGVC Points, HHonors, and RCI

I just purchased 3400 pts at HGVC Flamingo in Las Vegas for $3000.00. I have always believed that if it sounds too good to be true, it is too good to be true, and this seems too good to be true. It will take 6 - 8 weeks to close and I would really like to learn more about buying add'l points and trading with RCI soon. I want to be able to trade for HGVC in Waikiki. Any info would be appreciated.

Congrats on your recent purchase! I am sure you will be very happy with the HGVC system. I thought it sounded too good to be true also when I bought my first unit in 9/05, but I have purchased several units since then. I use my points mainly for studio stays in Las Vegas, but am also going to HHV in May and the new location on the big island in Sept. I always buy in the platinum season to get the most points for the annual MF's. I also have paid an average of $1.55 a point.
You did really well paying less than $1 a point on this purchase. I have been tracking sales on HGVC built properties for a while now and have never seen one sell for less than $1 a point. Just keep in mind that with each unit comes MF's, so be careful not to pay to much per point. Just remember you will be paying the same maintenance fees as the person that has 4800 points a year. The difference is the 4800 point platinum unit would probably have cost you about $8000.

Additional maintenance fees vs renting someone elses

Before purchasing I tried to rent someone elses timeshares at HGVC and was always too late in getting what I wanted, so I went ahead and bought. I still don't understand exactly how this is going to work, since we haven't closed the deal yet, but I'm thinking once I get "in" I will be able to get additional time by buying last minute, or renting someone elses unit, rather than purchasing a second week and having two maintenance fees. Maybe I'm wrong and its 6 of one , half dozen of the other????
