I recently received a solicitation to join a community solar farm. They promise guaranteed at least 5% savings on my electric bill. Has anyone joined one of these? Were there actually any savings? If so, were the savings significant?

Does it sound like a timeshare presentation? I'd really be suspicious in cloudy, northern climates. I prefer to use the power company's option to pay a little more each month to subsidize using a higher percentage of renewable sources.

I wouldn't do anything solar that didn't guarantee a 25% savings.

Guaranteed scam. Someone is making a profit off the top. Technology is improving quickly where your investment will be worthless earlier then expected.

I guess I didn't explain this adequately. There is no investment on my part. They are not asking me to invest in a solar farm. It's basically a switch in electricity providers. The solar farm would provide my electricity instead of the current electric utility company.

What I was trying to find out is if anyone else has switched their electric provider to a solar farm. And, if they had, were their savings more than 5% lower than their previous provider?
