I was under the impression if I owned a 4800 point, I couldn't add more points to that, and keep 1 MF, etc.. Is this correct?

I.e. own 4800 points and mf might be $900, I purchase another say 3500 points or so that doesn't accrue into one giant account and only pay one MF?

Am I making sense?

It doesn't work like that, you pay maintain fees on each ownership contract (deed). The points are combined in your HGVC account, that is all.

I think, and I'm sure someone else can verify if I am correct, that the maintenance fees are based on the unit size and specific resort. You will pay about the same m/f for a 2 b/r in silver, gold or platinum (give or take a little). So it can be more advantageous to buy the most points in a given size unit at a given resort.

Of course, you can sweetly ask an HGVC salesperson to sell you another property and they will probably be able take your old deed back & wrap it up nicely with a bow (and 20-50k of your money) into a new loan & contract. This will keep you at only one M/F.

Sometimes 2 contracts will still have cheaper M/F's than 1 with a lot of points. It really depends on your needs.

As SmithOP said, 1 contract = 1 MF. 2 contracts = 2 MF's.

Some that buy direct often get HGVC to buy back they original contract before they buy a new contrac with more points. In the end they will only have one ctract and one mf, but they would have paid a lot more for the contract.

If you only are in it for the points, look at Vegas there you will find the lowest mf.

Ie. the strip kosts 571$ for a 1br in mf(currently), and thats for either 3400/4200/4800/6200 points.
