I want to travel with my family to AKV, and I have reserved two Deluxe suites. Are they able to be combined? Can they guaranty that ahead of time, or will it depend on availability? I don't want to risk having my children on a separate floor than me! Thanks!

What kind of units are these? Studios, 1 bedrooms or 2 bedroom? Also, are these RCI exchanges or booked with DVC points? The only type units that could be possibly combined are a studio and one bedroom to make it a 2 bedroom lock off. If this is two one bedrooms, you could end up down the hall from one another or on another floor or maybe another building depending on if it is Kidani or Jambo. If you are a two-parent family you could have one parent in one room and the other parent in the other room.

What littlestar says above is correct - the only DVC villas at AKL that connect are studios that connect to the living room of a 1-bedroom villa to make a 2-bedroom lockoff villa. If you booked two Deluxe Studios, none of them connect.

The best you can do is to call (the DVC owner if you rented points or Disney if you booked direct with them or through RCI) and ask them to put a “traveling with” notation on both reservations (if they have separate reservation numbers). That notation lets the room assigners know to assign rooms as close together as possible. FYI room assignments are made 4-5 days before arrival but you can have the traveling with notation added any time before that.

ETA the only DVC studios that connect are those at the Poly. Almost all of those studios connect in pairs, so a request for connecting studios at the Poly has a very high likelihood (but not a guarantee) of being fulfilled.

In the past we have had success "combining" a 1br and a studio at SSR into a 2br. The 1br was a rci exchange and the studio was a DVC booking.

There are no guarantees but you should make sure to link the reservations and then you should call the front desk a few days (7 days approx) and ask for it. Also you should not doing an online check you should do the checkin at the front desk to try an ensure you get a 2br instead of a 1br and a studio.

Thanks all. My rooms are Deluxe Studios, so I guess no chance of connecting them.

Yes, sorry, that’s correct. If they’re both on the same reservation/confirmation number, the room assigners will probably automatically try to keep them close together. If they have two separate numbers, contact Disney to put the “traveling with” notation on each of them. All the DVC units in Jambo House are on the 5th floor, but Kidani Village is very large and spread out, so if they’re in that building they could be distant from each other.
