Yikes~!! Sad.

I always worry about long hair, strings on hoodies, sweatshirts, coats, etc. (especially on park rides) If I start thinking about what can go wrong at anytime, anywhere - I will go nuts.

Life is dangerous. Anytime you walk out of your house...
My fearful former in-laws never went much beyond their hometown.
One day, a plane could fall on their house and they'd be home.
Sad.

I read that article the other day and am puzzled by 2 statements in it. Firstly it states he fell through an opening in the seat. I have only been on less than a dozen chairlifts at various ski resorts and the space between the seat slats is very small. Even the space between the seat and the back is too small for most children to fit through. He very well could have fallen between the front edge of the seat and the railing if he didn't get on and sit properly but the article didn't say that. The other statement "Reports indicate his chair was left in the upright position," is also strange as the lift operators surely would have unfolded the seat when they did their pre-startup checks first thing in the morning or at least unfolded it when he was about to get on. If not then why would a person even attempt to get on and sit in a folded up seat? I haven't visited many ski areas (and worked for 5 yrs at one) but, do they not have lift attendants at the bottom of the lift to make sure people are getting on properly? Seems like kind of a strange, but sad, accident.

I saw a video some years ago. A teenager was dangling from the ski lift and his backpack strap was strangling him. He was suffocating and finally managed to wiggle out of it and fall into the snow. He was very lucky. He said he would never again wear a backpack while snowboarding.
