COCONUT MALLORY RESORT Key West
A CM relator made an offer at no cost to me. All the transfer costs (transfer fees, title fees, transfer tax) will be paid by CM. I must agree that I receive no $$, and send proof of ownership to a company that handles the deeds. I permit them to sell my Timeshare. I was told not to pay my maintenance fees in Sept. once I complete the authorization to the deed company. I'm waiting for my share of the rent for my week in early April before I proceed.
Does anyone see RED FLAGS in this offer? My intention is to get rid of it, ASAP.

What specific week do you own or is it a floating week?

Some of those Key West deeds are worth some $$$ so I wouldn't be too quick in giving it away for free without doing more research.

I'm confident that Key West Timeshare expert @ScoopKona will see this and add any opinion.

.

I've already sent her a message.

Absolutely Coconut Mallory has SOME value. That's why this company is offering to take it off her hands for free.

I'm hoping that one of the members who wants a Key West week gets in touch with her. Since Key West is my home town, I never need a timeshare there. I have better options if I plan on visiting home.

I'd say if you're planning to hold on to it till next April, I'd at least also list it to give away for free here on TUG, with buyer paying fees... But yea, people would need to know the unit, week, etc that you have.

I'm not planning on holding on to it until next April. I rented my FLOATING week this year, 2024 in early April and waiting for my 'cut' of the rental. Thanks for your reply.

It is a FLOATING week. I rented it this past April 2024 & waiting for my 'cut' of the rent. I don't want to pay maintenance fees this Sept for various reasons.

As a former owner at Coconut Mallory, my recollection is that all weeks at CM were floating weeks. They used to have a free for all "reservation window opening" each year (in September, iirc) when people could first call to reserve weeks; it was very much a "first come, first served" reservation system. Maybe it's different now, I dunno.

I bought a resale 2BR week there for peanuts but frankly never cared much for CM. Tired units, spotty maintenance and too far away from virtually everything in KW, just for starters. Staff often quite surly, but anyone can have bad days and personnel and / or management companies can always change. In any case, I sold that week off for even fewer peanuts than I originally paid. I'd be surprised if CM values have changed markedly since then, but I don't claim any current knowledge regarding CM resale values.

Key west prices have gotten nuts. I agree with Scoop, it likely has value. But at this point, we don't even know if it is a studio, 1br or 2br and if it is biennual or annual so the OP needs to tell us what it is.

A biennial studio recently sold for around $220 on ebay but the seller covered about $700 in closing costs. I would think a tugger would take an EOY studio without any expense to the OP, but it could get better depending on what it is.

Does not look fancy, but looks like a nice home base for a Key West week. The pics showed studios does have a full size fridge and cook top.

Thanks for your reply! Yes, I would pay my fee first of Sept & call to reserve the week I wanted—still that way. Float week was nice to have! I didn't mind the distance to 'town', I liked the quiet at CM. Parking near activities is an issue I don't like! Now the issue is my age, health & 1,200+ miles to KW & hassle even to get decent flights to fly into KW!

I've lived on eight different Keys. And a dozen places in Key West. I came very close to living on Houseboat but decided against it.

Coconut Mallory is across the street from where Houseboat Row used to be. The great part about that side of the island is that there is almost always a sea breeze shooting right up Cow Key Channel. It's also quiet.

When I lived on Elizabeth Street, I could hear what was happening on Duval far too often for comfort. (I knew people who lived in the apartments above the businesses on Duval. They all had one thing in common -- they worked nights on Duval.) So there is much to be said for "a quiet spot in Key West."

I have no idea if Conch Bike Express is still in business. But if they are, rent a bike for the week. There's no place in Key West that's more than 20 minutes from any other place by bike. Cars are a bad idea in Old Town anyway. Or, for people who can't ride, won't ride, don't ride, there's always Uber.

Coconut Mallory Resort in Key West assisted me in passing on my deeded week at CM. At no cost to me & no money paid to me, I no longer own a timeshare there & new owners have the deed. I am thankful to be rid of the timeshare and have no regrets that I didn't wait & try to sell it myself. Personal reasons. I hope the new owners enjoy their time at CM.
