CO fee addition

Continental will now charge $15 for the first checked bag! There are exceptions such as Elite status, first/business class etc. and full-fare economy. This charge affects US, Canada, Puerto Rico and I think Mexico as well.....

I just heard that on the nightly news. It was reported that Delta is now the only major carrier not charging for bag check. Guess they don't consider Southwest as "major", however, they are the major carrier in our market. And, the last time I checked they allow two checked bags at no charge.

The thread discussing this on FlyerTalk was 15 pages long within 24 hours, last time I checked. People there are not happy about this, despite the fact that most of them have Elite access and would not have to pay the fees themselves. It just a disappointment that CO, which was considered one of the best airlines, is now part of the race to the bottom.
