I am looking to do an RCI exchange to Club Velas Vallarta in Puerto Vallarta. RCI has this resort listed twice, ID 2688 & ID 6293. I have called RCI requesting information on the difference of the two IDs.

I have not been able to get an answer other than they are the same resort.

Can anyone enlighten me on the differences and suggest which one I should book. As you can tell, both are available.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. I would hate to guess at such an important decision.

Thanks...........

We have friends that own there. It is a good place to go. the marina is a great place and on the bus line to downtown. The only difference I can think of is one may be all inclusive and the other not. They do that in RCI in several resorts that have two numbers. With the all inclusive you pay the fee. The other is optional. You should be able to get RCI on the phone and explain it to you.

Both Velas Vallarta resorts are the only ones I have been able to pull and have had a search in for 10mths. Both are listed as A/I . If anyone knows different- sure would like to hear about it. Our son is graduating high school- never asks for anything and had requested PV for our family vacation for this summer. Great kid but just can't justify that high A/I fee

If Vellas Vallarta is the only resort you can pull with your week, and if three people are going on this trip, it looks like (at least in RCI's on-line exchange description) you'd be paying $125. per day per person for the A-I portion at Vellas Vallarta. That would be $2625. for a week for the A-I for the three of you. IMHO, you'd be better off not even trying to exchange your week for this trip. Instead, use an RCI Extra Vacation week. There are several 1-bedroom weeks listed for various resorts throughout the summer for Puerto Vallarta, ranging in price from $450. to $740., in general, for NON-all-inclusive resorts in Puerto Vallarta and Nuevo Vallarta. $740. for an RCI Extra vacation week would be much less expensive than exchanging into Vellas Vallarta for a week ($2625. A-I + appx. $400. mtnc you paid for your deposited week + $189. exchange fee = $3214.).........$2474. less expensive-----that is a lot of meals and drinks!!!

I'd pick somewhere else to go in the summer other than PV. Summer is the rainy season and it's really hot and humid.

Thanks for all your help and sugestions, it good to know of a place to ask questions and get really honest answers.

We are going to be 2 copules in a 2 bedroom unit. I booked the unit last night. I booked the ID 2688 because of the reviews posted on the RCI site. There were lots of reviews of which none could be found to say anything bad about the resort. Our check-in is early May. I think we will be there before most of the rain, however we are from south Louisiana. We know HOT & HUMID, besides there is always the POOL BAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DGDBLOE,

I just did a new search in for July & August for a 1 bedroom, I got 18 resort to pick from ranging from 1 to 3 bedrooms.

Again, thanks for all your help........
