Having botched my first attempt to post here goes again. I have been an Iberostar Club member since 2019, but my main reason for joining this site is to see if there is any information on a closed Vacation Club in the Bahamas, Club Land’Or. I have searched on that name, and a whole bunch of threads came up, but not clearly linked to it. Here’s my issue. My widowed mother-in-law is in her nineties, and she lost out to that club. My wife and I would like to know if anyone has information on the closing and in particular about any compensation which other people got. She was offered an alternative club membership, but she didn’t want that. My mother-in-law got nothing. Can anyone help? We want to know, if you got compensated, why didn’t she? Grateful for any help on this!

I guess it is possible, but usually these outfits claim the property has a negative value based on its use as a timeshare. Then they sell for next to nothing, and the buyer miraculously finds an amazing alternative use worth millions. The prior owners get a bag of peanuts of anything.

Time does fly, I cannot believe it has been so long since my post. It's too bad that in all this time, no one is able to provide any information on Club Land'Or. It was worth a shot.

My understanding was that they were heavily in debt by the time they went under. I doubt anyone got anything.

I think Land 'Or was the first timeshare presentation we attended (and turned down). Just did a search and it seems that it is a going concern. Maybe after a reorganization?

All I can remember they were in the RCI Timeshare Directory and that was probably 25 to 39 years ago.

I have seen the property recently
It is a mess
Weeds
No evidence of upkeep or maintenance

It certainly looks abandoned (Nov 2024) Atlantis employees park in the lot.

no one got anything. Feel lucky that she was able to escape that mess without any issues. currently the hotel is being used as a brothel among other things, of course this is just what I hear from locals.

Thanks for the comments. It's a shame what has happened, and does not appear that much can be done. Time to move on to better things!

I was an owner at CLO for almost 40 yrs and it used to be a wonderful place. We went every year and made life long friends whom we scheduled with so that we would always be there at the same time. Upkeep, etc, started really going downhill in the mid '20teens'. Last time we went was 2019 and it was more than a disaster. We finally got out of it. It is closed/shuttered/out of business but it still shows up as active if you google it. No No and No. They still owe money to former employees. They are stlll suing owners for not paying their assessments,etc.. Really?
