A question.

I already have an existing 125 points from CI (Whistler) after attending their presentation a year ago. Now I'm exploring the possibility of adding more points (say 120) to that by buying privately at much less than the minimum $175 per point required for EE.

Would that mean I would have 2 separate classes of points? One 125 points eligible for EE, and one 120 points ineligible for EE (that can only be used towards CI resorts) ?

Am I understanding this correctly?

Thanks in advance! :D

Hi,

People have had trouble both buying and selling secondary market CI points.

I think that you do understand how the points work. I am not sure what their procedure is to allow you to have the two different types of points

I have heard that the purchase is complicated with the full price having to be in escrow even before CI has decided to elect their FROR or not.

What do you want the points for? You may find that there are other ways to meet your needs.

Hi Pam, tks for answering. :D

Essentially I'm looking at increasing my points so that I can have more annually for both CI Whistler (because that's a nice little getaway close by Vancouver where I live) and for EE (such as HGVC locations, etc).

Does that make sense?

Has there been any successful sales in the secondary market recently? Would CI keep the two separate classes of points, or would CI just say all the points combined together is ineligible for EE (which would obviously not be what I would want to happen)?

I guess I could just ask an advisor at CI, but I think I already know they'll try to talk me out of it. ;)
