We recently purchased a 1 bd timeshare at Pono Kai from Go Timeshares which was listed as A103 with Resort Closings handling the closing. I was reviewing a faxed copy of the final paperwork and noticed that the assigned room number was changed to D03. Should the closing company ammend this change or not worry about it? Thank you.

Pen & Ink Alteration On Original Recorded Deed.

Last summer we bought an EOY Floating Diamond 3BR lock-off Orlando timeshare from private parties in another state. They were the original owners -- bought the alternate-year timeshare from the developer when the resort was new. The unit they thought they were selling was different from the 1 recorded in their name down in the the Orange County FL deed book. The unit they thought they owned was typewritten on the original recorded deed. But on that document, the typed number was crossed out & the actual unit they owned was hand-written in next to the crossed-out unit number -- right there on the original, recorded deed. As a practical matter, it's mox nix because the resort is on the floating weeks system, so owning a particular unit & week (as recorded on the deed) gives the owner no special use rights to that unit -- all weeks & units are up for grabs, first come first served. Still, it's semi-interesting that a little deed glitch like that didn't come to light till the original owners re-sold.

BTW, we read somewhere on the Internet recently that the original name of Orange County FL was Mosquito County FL -- no doubt some Yankee with a sense of humor was involved in naming the place back in its wild & wooly days. How long do you suppose it took the Tourism Board to get the name changed to Orange County FL?
