We own points in Mexican affiliate resorts which expire in a year or so. We are fine with saying goodbye to Wyndham. We do like the resorts but like others equally as well. At our "update" meeting today the rep said we could PIC our non-Wyndham RCI unit into Wyndham now with no extra purchase, and retain Wyndham membership once our affiliate points expire. This did not jive with what little I know about the PIC program but he was adamant that it would cost us nothing and no developer point purchase was required - anybody heard of anything like this?

Oh, his reason for suggesting that we do this is because once we no longer have the affiliate points we won't be able to book Wyndham resorts through RCI ever ever again because the only reason we see them there sometimes is because the system knows we are Wyndham owners. Retaining this completely free PIC option would ensure we could still see Wyndham through RCI.

We passed on the opportunity so we didn't get into any paperwork or nitty gritty details.

Best guess he's referring to a PIC Express enrollment, which expires after five years. IIRC there is a fee to a PIC Express enrollment, though I don't recall the amount. I doubt the affiliate resorts would qualify for PIC Plus, since they are already affiliate resorts with Wyndham.

RCI inventory availability has nothing to do with your Wyndham membership AFAIK. Either Wyndham has listed the inventory as available for RCI exchange/bookings or it hasn't. Same as any other timeshare inventory that shows as available within RCI. An exchange is an exchange.

I would go with Hitch’s explanation, as it does not require a “purchase” ... only an enrollment fee. Lol

That's what I said to him, and pointed out that my RCI Points account that has no affiliation with my Wyndham account sees all the Wyndham deposits. He came up with the reasoning that since Wyndham owns RCI, they "see" that even though I am in my unassociated points account, I am currently a Wyndham owner so I get to see those deposits but won't later. He was a very nice guy and was really interested in how I use RCI and get more value (for me) than I do with my Wyndham points so it was a fun discussion. I was not aware of the PIC Express plan and he was adamant that there was no cost to me, so maybe he was not completely up to speed on it either.
