Hi I was wondering if there was a way to make an offer on a classified ad? Is the price listed firm, or is there room for negotiation?

That's a question to be directed to (and then answered by) the actual advertiser, by your initiating direct contact by responding to the ad...

Lots of people make offers - just contact the owner and make a polite counter-offer, and be prepared to hear "no."

Things NOT to say:

We are on a really tight budget. I know your timeshare is worth more, but can you help us out with a big discount?

Your timeshare is priced way too high - will you take $XXX?

What is the least you will accept for your timeshare?

I see the same resort posted on other websites for [a much lower price] - will you match that price?

I'd keep is short and sweet:

I'd like to offer $XXX for your timeshare:

Resort name
Date
Description

Please contact me at:
(email)
(phone)

Thanks for your consideration!

I just wasn't sure if it was considered distasteful to do it.

Thanks all

based on the number of threads in the past...youll find there is a line drawn in the sand between ad posters who:

1. are happy to get inquiries, even if they are low

and

2. are insulted by lowball offers on ads they feel are already priced at a discounted rate.

*shrug...i personally dont mind any offer and was taught to just simply say no thank you if the offer is not to my liking.
