kay, so this may sound so elementary but I am looking at the timeshares for sale on e-bay and thinking about trading. If I buy a $1 timeshare with low MF"s, will I be able to exchange it during flexchange for the same places as the most powerful of traders? It seems to me that that would be so, but I'm afraid I'm missing something.

I am a teacher and though some people seem to feel constricted by that, I feel as though it makes me very flexible. I love to see new places, near or far, and I think there is something interesting to do almost anywhere. I also do not mind packing up the kids over summer or winter break to go on a road trip. I am, however, a little finicky about accommodations. That is why I'm thinking that a cheapo dollar timeshare may just get me into some very nice places during flexchange. Am I right? Or are there some restrictions I'm missing?

Thanks everyone! You're the best!

I'm a teacher too - and one problem is that you don't see as much availability during school holidays. There's more availability off-season, when school is in session. However, with our economy, I think we will see more high-season availability, with more people depositing their weeks instead of using them. I think I'd study flex-change for awhile and see if you see places you'd like to go, during school holidays.

Thank you Denise.

I have had good luck in flexchange the past couple of years using my Marriott Grande Vista studio. I am happy with the findings. I guess I'm just trying to make sure that the same offerings will be available using any week during flexchange.

I think it will, but I just want to make sure.

Again, as always, thank you!

Just be aware that the el-cheapo TS will NOT have the Marriott priority, even in flexchange. I see a LOT of good Marriotts come up in the summer in flexchange with my OP studio, but almost none make it beyond the Marriott priority window - they are scooped up too fast.

Not only will you NOT have the Marriott priority. There are still other restrictions in place during flex-time at II. Some resorts cannot be seen by the lesser traders even in flex.

Ahhh... I knew there was something I was forgetting. I've only ever had the Marriott. Thank you for reminding me. I didn't realize though that there were other restrictions. Back to the drawing board I guess!

If you have a Marriott now, you can deposit with SFX (if they tend to have inventory where you want to go) and use the bonus week also ($399). Their bonus weeks are just like an extra regular week except you don't get a free upgrade as a platinum member. I am also a teacher with the same restrictions and SFX bonus weeks are much more useable than II AC's in prime season.
