Thank God for the TUG lounge! Sometimes I feel like I have to get something off my chest...and this is the place for it!
I'm slowly but surely getting into the Christmas spirit. Got my lights up...got my office decorated...even brought the tree up for my Mrs to decorate.
Now...I turn on the radio, (to a station that plays nothing but Christmas music at this time of the year). Here's my problem...
Where do these so called hip-hop or ultra modern artists get off virtually destroying what used to be nice music? I heard Bing's "White Christmas" today and didn't even know what the H...they were singing! I listened to, what I think was "the Little Drummer Boy, (used to love it by Johnnie Mathis), but some nit-wit named snoop or some other foolish name absolutely SLAUGHTERED it!
I thought it was bad when some of these so-called artists virtually demean the National Anthem, (in the name of pop-music), at ball games...but Christmas..? Come on!!
My God...WHO DO THEY THINK THEY ARE!!!!!
I wish copyright laws would enable former stars like Mathis, Crosby etc to sue their......uh.. noses off!
Thanks...I feel better.

Maybe switching stations would be helpful or call in your requests to the station you usually listen to. I haven't heard the selections you mentioned but from what you've described, I don't think I'd want to. Some of the renditions that have come out these past years are good. I especially enjoy Josh Groben's "O, Holy Night" as well as Celine Dion's rendition of the same. Hope you can find something more pleasing to your ears.

Yesterday afternoon my husband came in yodeling. It was well before happy hour so I asked him what he was doing/thinking/drinking. It turns out there's a modern group that has revived (not the word I was thinking of) the Little Goatherder's Song from the Sound of Music. This is one of my husband's favorite musicals (he likes them all) so I sat him down in front of the TV and put the video on. For two hours he sang to his hearts content (I guess because we all went out to eat) and when we got back, he was all better. If you haven't heard it, be careful, it's getting a lot of play time.:annoyed:

I like yodeling. However, I am listening to a station that plays only Christmas music for the whole month, so I'll have to wait to hear that song in Jan.

I agree that some of these artists do a real hack job on some Christmas arrangements. But some do a great job as well. I love the Christmas Album that Air Supply did few years back. There work on "The First Noel" is wonderful as well as splendid job on White Christmas. Bing would have been proud.

I just bought it on ebay because I couldn't find it in any of the retail stores.

Different strokes for different folks!

I hate those dogs that do the Jingle Bells thing already this year (again), but my kids love every minute of it. Probably some of the songs that you think are butchered are someone else's favorite.
I am still partial to Please Come Home for Christmas by the Eagles myself!
