We will be going to Christie Lodge first time. Are there "better room location within the building or better view" we should ask for. Any suggestion from owners or users? Thanks in advance.

Views are better on the south side of the building. The north side looks toward the highway. Noise wise, I'd probably pick the north side. With the doors and windows closed, I don't think the highway noise is noticeable. On the south side, if you get any snow, you will hear the plows going back and forth very early in the morning and street noise is a little louder.

be prepared for a small unit if you have a 1 bedroom - not recommended for more than 2 adults and 2 small children. we enjoyed our stay there - great location and great skiing, but were very cramped

The OP probably already had their vacation, but I'll post since we just returned from a stay at Christie Lodge for anyone who is interested in my review of the property.

First, the location is very good - it is probably the best thing about the resort. It is very close to everything and has good parking, including covered parking, which in Avon is a plus!

It is, however, an older resort - and it shows its age. The units are VERY small....the three bedroom is cramped (at best) and if you do have 8 adults, you'd probably be miserable. We had five adults and three kids (ages 4, 4, and 6) and it was very tight for us.....not enough seating to eat together.....we basically moved the table over to the sofa and let the kids "picnic" on the floor nearby.

The living room is combined with the kitchen area and dining area....and is very, very small. The kitchen has a 1/2 fridge, so you can't buy much and forget about anything frozen. There is a microwave and a small electric skillet and you can request a crock-pot....so meal preparation is very difficult, especially for larger groups. There is also a full size dishwasher (go figure?) - but you'll want to pack some dishwashing gel tabs since they only give you three packets of soap for the week. The garbage can is painfully small, so you'll be putting out garbage constantly too.

All three beds are queen size (no kings in any units) and the pillows are pitiful - very thin and really should be replaced since they're really uncomfortable. Each bedroom does have its own bathroom, so that was a plus in the morning getting ready for the day. Hot water was never an issue either - morning or night, or even the morning of check-out when some places run out of hot water...although the hot water was consistently reliable, the water pressure did fall significantly on the morning of check-out.

You enter the unit (3-bedroom) through one of two doors - both of which take you through a bedroom into the unit....so not much privacy if someone is napping or sleeping and someone is coming in late in your party.

The balcony is rickety and old....not safe for kids to be outside on it.

There is a pull-out sofa in the living room, but if you open it up, there is literally no room to walk around the room since the room itself is very small.

Don't consider running the dishwasher when you're going to bed at night - it is loud.....run it when you go out for the day in the morning.

If you do have kids.....and are on the upper floors - be careful with them along the railings - the space between the railing rails is wide and a small child can fall through! A fall from the second or third floor could kill a child....we didn't even realize how large the gaps in the rails were until our small child (age 4) tripped and fell as we were going to our room and literally almost fell through! So use caution with kids...it was heart-stopping to see our little guy almost fall from that height.

As I said, the units are older....and they're cramped....personally I doubt we'd stay there again, depsite being in a convenient location....although I will add the staff was excellent, friendly and very nice! It's just the units are too small and uncomfortable for us.

Your description of Christie Lodge explains why these units, coupled with a high maintenance fee, are worthless. You can even buy ski weeks for close to nothing and find plenty of cheap rentals during ski season. What I wonder is how it became Silver Crown on RCI - must not take much to be SC!
