I'm in the Northeast and the cover is still on the pool for another few weeks, but news of this shortage has me already looking around for my summer stock and WOW, the 3 orders I have managed to place in the last few days have been cancelled already. For those of you with pools already open are you finding the same thing?

We just moved into our home with an existing spool. We did lots of work to it, including adding a salt water/chlorine generator. Because it is not very big, it cost $1200 installed. We have to pay for pool salt, and our pool service folks charge us $10 a bag, and I just saw a bill for $40 for 4 bags. The same pool service folks sent out a blanket email for their chlorine pool customers indicating that they are increasing their monthly charge by $40 because of sky rocketing chlorine prices. We dodged the price increase.

My SIL in Melbourne Beach Florida is so happy she has a year supply of chlorine for their pool. They take care of the Pool themselves.

It you see chlorine in your local store for your pool, buy it now and stock up. Prices are going up with the shortage of the products.

Home Depot where I live is now limiting customers to 2 bags/buckets of chlorine.

I did notice a price increase at Home Depot but at our local Walmart store, the price for 10% bleach has not changed since last year......
Perhaps coming soon?

After another online order cancellation I started looking at other possible retailers. Fuund my local ACE hardware had 2 tubs of tabs available to buy online/pickup in store. I decided not to wait for them to get them off the shelf for this service and jumped in the car to purchase. It most likely won't get me through the summer.....but it will be close.

I did contemplate the switch to salt, but I don't think we will have the pool for much longer. Actually I would have taken down this year if my daughter would have been ok with it (above ground)

Yes, when hubby went to get more chlorine tabs at our local pool supply store, he got 25# bucket for the same price we paid for 50# last year. So he then went to SAMS and bought a 40# bucket for the same price he paid for the 25# at the pool supply store. Now we will have enough for this season as we ususally use 50# from May - October 15 and then another 25# for the October to April time.
