Years ago, DH and I spent a month in China with a driver and tour guide meeting us at each airport. We would spend several days touring, and then fly on somewhere else.

The LiJiang or Li River cruise was our favorite outing. In fact, we liked Yangshuo so much we stayed a week there and skipped Shanghai. We went cormorant fishing a couple of nights.

Thanks for posting. This brings back memories. In fact, DH suggested going back, but skipping Beijing and a couple of other places. We did the same as vacationdoc in 1994. The Yangtze River cruise (while they were building the dam) as well as Dazu were our favorites. Yangzhou was third. It would be great to do the Yangtze again now that the dam is built.
