Hi all,
We’re headed to the Wyndham Grand Chicago Riverfront for 5 nights in July
What’s the best way to get to the resort from O’Hare? Taxi or other?
Also, we want to go out to Oak Park one day...does anyone know the best way to get there? ( we won’t have a car ) We’ve only been to Chicago once, so don’t know the city well at all.....
Thanks...

Agree with needvaca on both counts. Taxi to/from hotel. Public transit to Oak Park. Absolutely no need for a car in Chicago.

We'll be going to Chicago in September. Plan to take a cab to and back to the airport. From there we'll walk, cab, or public transit while we're in Chicago.

I grew up in Chicago. Things have changed since I left. But I have numerous relatives who never drove a car in their lives. I learned to drive at 21 when I got a teaching job in the suburbs

There's an El train that goes from ORD to the Loop, so if you don't have much luggage and don't mind a short walk, there's no need for a taxi at all! :whooopie: I think it's the blue line.

Should have added, we're coming into Midway, not O'Hare.

OMG even easier Chicago Transit Authority ORANGE 'L' train, cheap. Google maps or you favorite mapping program gives excellent info on public transit options?

Yes, Midway is closer in--Midway to downtown on the El takes under 30 minutes! (O'Hare to downtown on the El probably takes over an hour).

Chicago has terrific public transportation!

Thanks for the info, but my guess is we will take a cab. Dh doesn't like lugging his suitcase around any more than he has to.
