Does anyone know if there are any food options outside security in Terminal . I have a 2 hr layover on Friday and my son lives in Chicago so I thought I would meet him there for a quick hello.

No food outside security but possibly at the Hilton hotel which is just a short walk. If your son has a car and can pick you up, there are plenty of restaurants close by.

I don't think so, Jim. The only other thing I can think of is the Starbucks in the baggage claim area.

I think the Hilton is the best bet. They have a couple of restaurants and a bar.

A two hour layover is really not much time.

chili's

The chili's is located right outside Terminal 3 and is right there as you cross over from terminal I- United. Depending on where you exit Terminal 3, you may or may not see it but when the hallway starts to turn as you come away from the gates- you will see it beyond the security..

Jim, I'm going to be there on Saturday and I'm going to check this out. I sure don't remember any restaurants being accessible before security but you sound like you know. ;)

To the OP, I still would prefer one of the restaurants at the Hilton!
