Very stressful checkin due to misinformation from Westgate (aren't you shocked?), but there is loads of snow, my boys (young and not-so-young) are all off with their instructors, it is COLD, and I am looking forward to enjoying the hot-tub on our deck later on today (btw, there ARE hottubs in some of the smaller units, we ended up in a 1 bedroom w/loft after changing rooms at 1 am due to no heat and there is a nice big hot tub out there...no heat in the living room here, though....)

We were lucky to get here at all, loads of flights were canceled yesterday due to bad weather in Dallas/Chicago/etc... we had a direct flight that was only 2.5 hours late due to late departure and 120 mph headwinds that slowed us down and necessitated a long detour...

I will write a full review later or when we return.

edited to add: just got a call that our first room's heat has been fixed, we've got to move back. They didn't tell us that at 1 am when we woke up the kids sleeping in their jackets and moved, made it sound like the upgrade was compensation for the inconvenience. So we are unpacked and spread out, and I'm the only one here. Westgate really does suck!!!

Don't move out. I bet you can manage to talk them into letting you stay where you are for your inconvenience. You could also let it slip that you write reviews on a travel website. They don't have to know that it's tug and/or timeshare forums. I think that's how I got such a good room location at Red Wolfe in Tahoe. Maybe not, as they knew how stressed out I was when I called asking for a good room location. When I walked in they knew who I was and said Boy, you were right , you do need a vacation!! shaggy

Shaggy,

I ended up going to see the Sales Manager, told him I was scheduled for a sales pitch on Friday and pity the poor salesperson who was assigned to me. I told him I didn 't want to wait to hear "why didn't you say something sooner," so figured I'd get the major hissy fit out of the way early.

He spent several hours trying to accomodate me, said there were only 8 of the one bedroom loft units in the place and that all were being owner-occupied for the week (possible, it is President's Week in Park City; I'm guessing if the owners aren't occupying them personally, they have rented them for big bucks). I can't complain too much about our villa (though I wouldn't buy one, it's a bit small).

He did give me some comps at the Spa. Definitely not enough to make up for the horrible horrible start, but at least a gesture. I finally started my vacation today, have put yesterday (and the awful night before) behind me, and am relaxing. This is a glorious area, our first out west in ski season, and it is breathtaking even for a non-skier like me. My family is on the slopes and LOVING IT. I still pity the poor salesperson who is assigned to me!

When I get back, I will write a full review. I've already decided on the title: "The good, the bad, and the ugly." At least there will be some good!

Aw, don't feel too bad, hopefully you'll get someone who will make you more miserable than you'll make him, and you can both have a terrible day. Wouldn't that be wonderful? SOmething to look forward to, anyway.

Take copious notes and share your travel memories with shaggy at tsforums/ I love your positive attitude, you are not letting it sour your vacation. It can sometimes be dull when nothing unexpected happens on your trips. shaggy :D

Not what I wanted to hear -- we are staying at Westgate Park City in June.

much of the misinformation had to do with a large of quantity of missing lift tickets purchased in advance, you won't have to deal with that in June. Nor should you be needing the heat to be working... In my review I will post some room location tips

I have no intention of making anyone miserable, definitely not my style.

post meeting addition: in and out in 30 minutes, no fuss, no muss. There is still one week 7 left for $65K if anyone is interested...

Im sorry your vacation started out bad. I dont live very far from where you are at. I have stayed at Westgate Park City a couple of times and I think it is the best timeshare in the Salt Lake/Park City area (even better than the Marriots). If you get a chance come into Salt Lake and go skiing at Alta/Snowbird area or just drive up the Cottonwood Canyons. They are my favorite. Because of the snow last weekend I think all places in this area should be great skiing.

Hey, too bad it started out so rough. My family had a great stay there and would love to return. I also think that the Westgate is the best TS in the area. My only complaint was the reservation people in Florida. Took me forever to get my reservation straightened out, but the local folks were very accomodating and helpful.

Enjoy the rest of your stay.
