I have a reservation where I would like to have use of my room early in the AM the day after my check in day. Essentially I would prefer to bypass the 4PM check in time on say the 13th by booking the room to start on the 12th so I could have access to the room at 9AM on the 13th?

Has anyone tried this?

Call ahead and let them know when you will be arriving. See what they say.

FYI - We came in later at night to The Boulevard a few years ago and they were trying to get a hold of us while we were on our plane to see if we were arriving. It was a very busy time as the resort was actually full (Spring Break).

I have done this a couple of times pre-covid. The only time it was an issue was in New York, the other locations it was fine. I did call the front desk a couple days ahead of time to tell them what was going on and called in the morning hoping it would be the same agents. In New york I had a red eye that landed at 5am and I arrived at the hotel at 6 needing to check in and get ready for a meeting at 9 in one of the meeting rooms. That was the only time it was a problem and I needed it not to be. After about 20 min though and showing the confirmation and notes about who I spoke with they let me check in "early" for my room. It seems they gave it away the night prior. The other times in Orlando it was fine and easy. I would say just call a few days ahead and then the day before just to make sure. I have a reservation for late fall and with flights and meeting times I plan on doing this again and hoping for smooth check-ins.

The one place we've done this was in New York (W. 57th) and there was no issue. Worked as expected. But, yes, definitely call in advance to let them know.

Cheers.

We have done this in Fiji because most of the flights from the USA arrive between 5am and 5am. Also added an extra day at the end because most of the flights to the USA leave late at night.

I've done this at the Barbados Hilton (the hotel, not the Crane timeshare). They were confused when I went to check in at 8 am, but they sorted it out. Definitely with a hotel you have to let them know or they will likely give the room away, assuming you are a no show.
