Hawaiian Air is evidently being pressured by Alaska Air as the fares are about $50/tix less than when I bought for our April trip this year last July when the Fed Transportation taxes lapsed.

If only I had my crystal ball at the time...Oh well!

So, how does watchdog work? I only see a $340 rt from sfo to hnl, but when I search for the details, it offerschoices to search with such as kayak, american airlines, expedia, etc. when watchdog find a a $340 price, why don't they just show how to book art this fare?

Airfarewatchdog generally tells you which search engine provided the fare and the travel month. It does not necessarily provide the travel dates. I subscribe to the Airfarewatchblog RSS feed. Those posters usually provide travel dates and website for the lower fares.
