Hi,
I am flying Southwest on this Saturday. As I was typing in the Southwest address, google showed me an option for www.mychasecreditcards.com/southwest/FreeFlights

This address..it is legit..is offering 50,000 bonus points for signing up for the Southwest RR Visa. I called Chase from their main site and checked. I signed my hubby up and then me. We will get 50,000 miles each for $69 annual fee each after our first purchase. Capital One is my go to card but I could not resist this offer. Southwest is our first choice airline because BAGS FLY FREE and there are NO CHANGE FEES...really.
The funny thing is on the Southwest site, the offer is only for 25,000 miles. As I said, I double checked the offer of 50,000 miles with Chase. Our applications went through.
Capital One cards are the best though.
I am trying to use up my US Air and American miles because of baggage fees and blackout dates and change fees..too much trouble. American is more customer friendly than US Air. Still have miles to use on both. Now after my SDO comes through, I can try to use these old miles to get to HAWAII and stay at the Westin.:cheer:

Thanks I signed up also. I'm still trying to decide between SW and Jetblue so I signed up for both.

We've been using the SW/Chase card for years. It nets us 2-4 free flights a year and with free bag checks and the fact that SW goes where we want to go, it's a no brainer.

Oh, you are killing me! LOL! I have been trying for a several years to get a SW card to use when we spend the winters in the U.S.. Every time I have been rejected because I don't have a SSN only a Canadian Social Insurance number. We fly almost exclusively on SW, driving from Toronto to Buffalo. We maintain a Florida home, and have a local Florida bank account. I wish they would change the rules for snowbirds.

Is there a great deal on a jet blue card also? Do they have no baggage fees, no change fees, no blackout dates? I have never flown Jet Blue.

I just had a great experience on Southwest (sorry Dori). My first flight was so early that I made an earlier connection. Because I was flying on a rewards flight and had no checked baggage, I was allowed to take the earlier flight. Reached my desitination over 1 1/2 hours early. I should have bought a lottery ticket.

It probably wouldn't help, but what about calling rather than signing up on line? It might make a difference.

Pat, I tried that route as well, but no luck. :( Maybe one day they will realize the amount of money that snowbirds bring into the U.S. and let us have credit cards issued in the U.S.. Until then, I hope TUGgers can take advantage of all the fabulous cc offers that rack up lots and lots of points/miles.

Annual fee for credit card

I hate to seem ignorant, when is the annual fee due? All my credit cards have been free or offered the first year free. With the $ 69.00 annual fee, are you billed as soon as your account is opened? Thanks.

Jet Blue wrecked their True Blue program when the changed it a few years ago to a revenue based model. consequently, there isn't much value in the Jet Blue American Express.

For Southwest, if you can earn 110,000 miles from them in a year they will give you a companion pass for an entire year.

Southwest converted to a revenue based model a while back too.

I don't fly Southwest often so I can't really comment on the program merits, but I know people really like the companion pass. If you can get 2 credit card bonuses of 50k miles each and a 10k miles hotel transfer, you can fly someone with you for free for an entire year.

message says offer has expired

When I clicked on the link to apply for the Chase card with 50000 miles bonus, I received a message that the offer has expired...then an offer from Southwest for 25000 miles appeared on my screen.

Nick I am trying for the 110000 points this year for the Companion Pass. As I read about the pass, it will be good for all of 2013, but what I don't know is can you still use it in late 2013 to purchase tickets to be used in early 2014?

Dottie: I don't know. I'm not really all that familiar with Southwest. Your best bet is to look on flyertalk or milepoint and read the commentary there.

Or call SW and ask. Their phone reps are great.

Thanks, I will pursue it if I get close to the 110k miles. The plus card is in the mail. I am not yet 100% sure I will get the premier card but the Chase rep sounded like it would be approved. After the cards come, I will work on spending the $10000 or transferring points in by the end of the year.

Good to know

Do you thing that I can fly to Mexico with this points? with a family of four I need all the help I can get.

I don't think SW flies to Mexico. But they do have something on their site about international flights. I've never checked it out. Hmmm, I may have to go and look. :D

I just checked. AirTran flies to Mexico. From the SW website:

Southwest Airlines' recent acquisition of AirTran means our Customers have options for international travel by booking via airtran.com. Learn more about the AirTran Acquisition.

From Mexico to the Caribbean, AirTran has nonstop service to a variety of exotic international destinations like Aruba, The Bahamas, Bermuda, The Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Mexico, and Puerto Rico.
