I have 4 nights booked at Beachplace Tower in a couple weeks. I got a studio because it’s all that was available. Now because of cancellations I can get a one bedroom for the same number of points. Do I have to cancel the original reservation? I hate to call and bother them because they’re so busy dealing with cancellations. As long as the airlines are flying.. we are going. Thanks!

You may be able to get MVC to do this for you over chat. I did earlier this year when the phone lines were busy.
You need to get by the bot.
Answer no it didn’t help you and it should ask if you want a human.
I dint believe you can cancel a points reservation online.

Question: does this change (which at MVC is a cancel and rebook, no?) force those studio DC points into a holding account, or do they re-use those automatically because you're booking so closely?

That’s my question too. I don’t want to cancel.. more of an upgrade. I tried the chat but no one was available. Might have to wait until Monday.

The way the system works, they will cancel and rebook. Just call them
I have tried desperately to get of hold of marriott vacation club. I have a reservation in Aruba and concerned about the trip. I. also have a number of reservations in April that and need. to use 6000 points before April 30 and hope they give me some. kind. of. extension as my parents are old and cannot go. ANY SUGGESTIONS AS TO WHAT I SHOULD DO WOULD BE SO APPRECIATED!

I did something similar a little while back by email.

Pretty simple, though it took about two days.

Where do you live? Are there any Marriott timeshares near you?
If so. try to plan a few nights near home.

Don't give up. I called them yesterday and was able to make a change. If they ask to call you back, take that option. Just keep your phone handy!

Well I guess this question was for nothing. Sadly with the beaches closed and restaurants.. I’ll have to cancel. As soon as things settle down I will reschedule. Was so looking forward to this getaway with my daughter. :(

Sorry to hear that, you'll likely get to go just another time.

Exactly. With her college classes moving to online for the rest of the semester.. we can go anytime once this has settled down. And we can flexible on where. 6 months is plenty of time!

I understand your frustration, but yelling here won't get Marriott's attention any better.

As far as I know, the beaches are still open in Florida. No official requirement for restaurants to close yet, just to limit seating to 50 people or 50%, whichever is lower. Also have to maintain 6' between tables. Restaurants will still provide carry out and delivery. Bars and nightclubs are ordered closed. Of course, I still understand the desire to cancel as all of this doesn't make for a great travel experience.

Beaches aren’t closed statewide. But they are closed in Lauderdale, Miami and I think the Tampa area. It’s too discourage spring breakers.

Unfortunately, for me, Marriott is not calling back or answering their emails. I could not do chat either.
