When I was there in 2005, our Sprint phones did not work. We brought walkie talkies, but they worked only so so.

What's this about a SIM card you buy? Any recommendations? We are a family of 4 Sprint phones!

Any walkie talkie experiences?

Thank you!

Since you probably have new phones now :) , I'd call Sprint and see if you phones would work there, and if they can give you a short term plan to use them. I have on my to-do list (maybe tonight) to call AT&T to do the same thing. I know the DH wants to keep in touch with the MIL and FIL (and probably work, too) so we need at least 1 of our 3 phones to work -- and the blackberry, too....Altho my team at work has threatened to lock up my blackberry so I don't take it on vacation  . I love my team!

When we were at Harborside last month we were told that cellular service was up to $5.00 a min. depending on your carrier. You may want to see if you can purchase phone cards at the casino. I was told that with the use of a phone card you will be a little over $2.00 a min. instead of $5.00. For calling the states I downloaded Skype, and was able to use my laptop to call home at a whopping $.21 a min.

We have Verizon. Last summer we were at Harborside, what ever I set up with Verizon before we left ended up being quite reasonable.

Ken, thanks for the link to the other thread. I read it all and noticed you mentioned now Harborside has internet in both phases? I had been concerned it might not be avbl if we get Phase I (which we have requested) so I'm glad to hear it is throughout the resort! So, within the units themselves we will get wireless internet, like a hot spot? There's no hourly/daily charge from Harborside for it?

Any feedback w/ Sprint text msging? It's .20/min per msg, but would allow us to communicate between each other while there. Sprint however, says they cannot "guarantee the reliability" of sending/receiving txt msgs in the Bahamas.

Thanks for the info!
