I was just thinking about this yesterday, how in our youth there were several nights a week with a movie. We looked forward to them. This is a nice kickback, an alternative to the junk on network TV and all the optional channels. Plus, I finished Tiger King, so I need something normal and entertaining to fill my evenings!

Thank you! Though, I'll admit, I'm am early riser. So, late nights don't blend well with my current schedule.
I used to love these! Fond memories of family night around the TV and later, babysitting. Gee, I guess that means my neighbor had regular Sunday night dates!

I have fond memories of those movie nights too. But "back then" they didn't stop the movie after every 8 minutes to show 5 minutes of commercials so it was easier to get involved with the story. My local PBS station even showed films straight through with no interruptions - something unheard of in those days before cable tv and HBO, let alone home video recording equipment.

Agreed. With the amount of commercials, the networks can stretch a 90 minute movie to a 2.5+ hour show time.

Nice, but I wonder how popular it will be since you can get movies so many other places, with no commercials.

A couple of years ago I purchased the complete set of Columbo on DVD. Might be a good time to break those out again.

They should bring back the all-time classic Sunday night line up:

- Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom
- The Magical World of Disney

As a kid in the 70's, these were a staple for Sunday evening viewing. Anyone else?

Disney yes. I don't remember watching Wild Kingdom. I do remember Ed Sullivan. But I was a kid in the 50's and early 60's.

Anyone remember the Sunday night rotational NBC Mystery Movies produced by Universal? McMillan + Wife, Columbo, Hec Ramsey, Banacek, and McCloud ?

I think Columbo may have been the most popular, followed by McMillan + Wife.

Anyways; always entertaining back in the early 1970's.

DW loved all of them!!!!

It's funny rewatching them. There's a Columbo episode in which the plot hinges on the perp manipulating the cassette tape recording on an answering machine! How long has it been since you've seen an answering machine that used recording tape?

Where did Flipper fit into the schedule? And wasn't there a kind of safari show too?

I'd like to see Carol Burnett reruns and some Love American Style! That's what I remember from my babysitting days.

And I would add "You Asked for It" hosted by Bob Barker and sponsored by Skippy Peanut Butter tha was a Sunday night staple in the late 50's and early 60's.

Bob Barker was a newcomer. The show originated in the early 50's and when it was hosted by Art Baker.

I remember watching him with my folks on our brand new DuMont 14" black and white television on one of the two stations we could get in Pittsburgh at the time. Later it was hosted by a younger guy named Jack Smith. Bob Barker was doing Truth or Consequences right around then.

Thanks for the correction - my mistake, the show was hosted by Art Baker, not Bob Barker..

We watch Columbo often on Amazon Prime in the IMDb section. I love it!

Brain fart on my part, too. Bob Barker wasn't a newcomer to You Asked For It -- he never had anything to do with the show, far as I know. Barker went on to do The Price is Right, following perennial game show host Bill Cullen.

Most of the Movies I have seen advertised are regularly on TV.
