Was a bit surprised by this news. However, the more I think about it, I like it. Seems like an opportunity to have a 'Petri dish' experiment on a small enough scale not to do too much harm. Since we are talking about gambling, anyone want to place a bet?

Also, can we keep it polite?

Casinos were opening up in Deadwood SD When I was there last weekend. I’m not a gambler but I liked seeing people out and about.

Stimulus payments incoming!

Tribes, and their casinos, are not subject to state orders. Same thing is going on in Washington. Tribal casinos are reopening, over Gov. Inslee's protests.

Friday, May 22 is opening day for Spotlight 29. It's a fairly small, out of the way location. I'm thinking it will be packed. My neighbor thinks not so much.

What's funny is, Del Web Sun City, Indio is right up the highway. A recent news story reported residents there may not have a guest come to their house to visit. Only the deeded residents may enter their community. A woman was on the news unhappy because her son could not visit her.

Casinos in New Mexico closed by order of the pueblo leaders. Our governor did ask them to close. Since the highest number of COVID 19 cases and deaths are in the Navajo Nation (not sure which casinos are there) I'm not sure how the other pueblos are feeling about opening up. There hasn't been anything in the news about it.

The Pueblo of Pojoaque (just north of Santa Fe) is helping other Native American Pueblos by opening its doors to the Buffalo Thunder Casino Hotel. The hotel is housing COVID-19 patients from other New Mexico tribes as well as others who await their test results.

Wow. that's harsh. I would probably be making plans to move.

Just close all roads going into their lands.

Laura said she is not a gambler, so I'm pretty sure she didn't go into any casino. She just noted that they were open

I bet she did!

I've been wa thing for a local news story regarding attendance. I'm thinking they set the slots to pay out better than usual -- to get people to come back.

One of our casinos has horse races. I think I would like to go bet on the ponies when they open. Fun way to pass the day outside.

You guys crack me up with your speculation of "did she or didn't she?" in regards to the casinos.

Answer is.....

I did NOT go into the casinos. I did have my daughter w/me so that precluded it, but even I didn't have her with, I wouldn't have gone in. I'm one of the weirdos that stays in a non-casino hotel when I'm in Vegas.
Speaking of, I was supposed to see Bruno Mars there last month & I'm still reeling from the disappointment of that cancellation.

On a lighter note, I spend this afternoon / early evening driving north of the border to Kenosha Co, Wisconsin for a little hike and dinner in an open restaurant - WOO HOO! I think every license plate in the restaurant was from Illinois.

I'm watching the 11 p.m. News to see report on Casino openings. 4 of 6 locations opened today. Pictures show quite a few people showed up.
1. Temps taken before entry.
2. Masks required.
3. Slot machines have plexiglass spacers.
4. Continuous sanitizing going on.
5. Table games open, fewer seats.

It will be interesting to compare Covid -19 numbers in the days to come.

(They also opened indoor dining throughout Palm Springs to with strict rules.)

I'm not rushing out.

This is what is happening with the two big casinos in CT, both tribal owned. They will only allow people from CT and RI though.

Fortunately I live in Virginia where there are no casinos, big or small, Indian or non-Indian

There are several "historical horse racing game" emporiums that look like slot machines --- but they are still closed

Brett, is the gambling emporiums one closed in Williamsburg, VA & Hampton?

A little south of Coachella, Viejas outside San Diego opened on 18th to long entry lines that moved quickly as temps were taken.

They are using UVC to sanitize.

We are certainly excited to welcome you back, and upon your return you will notice multiple safety measures implemented to ensure your well being. Here are a few of the most important changes that you will see:

Signage will be provided across the property to remind guests of safety protocols, social distancing guidelines, and safety practices.

All Guests and Team Members will be subject to a non-contact temporal scan prior to entry.

Any Guest or Team Member exhibiting signs or symptoms of illness will be directed to return at a later date.

A mask must be worn at all times by Guests and Team Members.

Guests and Team Members will be required to practice social distancing at all times.

Additional hand sanitizer dispensers have been installed throughout the resort.

The casino will close at 3:00 am through 7:00 am for deep cleaning and UVC treatment.
