Hi Tuggers,

We are heading down to Carlsbad for a last minute trip next week. We are staying at the Carlsbad Seapointe. Any suggestions for great restaurants?

We'll have 2 kids with us so we don't tend to go fancy!!

Thanks for any suggestions!! or coupons too!

Islands is a favorite of ours. Great restaurant might be overstating it, but very good does it justice. http://www.islandsrestaurants.com/

Sometimes I see a coupon for a free appetiser out on the web.

Palomar Rd. Exit...right off I-5.

Hi: I live in Carlsbad -- at our high-end discount mall there is a Ruby's which is great for kids. They cater to them with games. The mall is on Avenue Encinas and not far from you.

Panera's Breads at The Forum has outdoor eating and delicious sandwiches. Linda's Frozen Yogurt has real tasty sandwiches -- it is next door to Carlsbad Inn which is downtown Carlsbad.

Downtown Carlsbad has a street called Roosevelt that has Italian, Mexican, French, miscellaneous and Carlsbad Village Drive has Carl's Jr and Jack in the Box.

Keep them coming....

La Especial Norte's reviews are great, sounds like we should try the Tortilla Soup!

Funny, I just printed out an Islands Coupon for a free Burger and Kona Pie since Aug. is my birthday month!! I always like to try to save money, even on vacation.

I like Ruby's too but was disappointed when I called today that they don't run the Kids Eat Free on Tuesdays during the summer ....

We're going to spend the last day in Corona Del Mar/Newport/Costa Mesa for more beach time and shopping so if there is a must try there that the kids will like, let me know.

Thanks again Tuggers!!

Tip Top Meat and European Deli - generous portions, yummy food, reasonable prices, and you can shop in the market for unusual goodies to take home.

Turn south on Paseo del Norte off of Palomar Airport road just east of I-5

Definitely Especial Norte! There is a house chicken soup hard to pronounce that is out of this world. I take some home with me every time and add more veggies and eat again. In fact we are eating there Tuesday night with out-of-town guests. Yummy :)

There's Soup Plantation and Olive Garden in a shopping center across from the Mall. Also a great chinese restaurant in the middle of town. Fidel's is always good. Panera Bread is great for coffee and pastries and soups and salads. Have a great time. We just love Carlsbad!

We go to Carlsbad three times a year, and our first lunch stop is at
Dominic's Pizza
Pizza, pasta, subs, spaghetti, and salad
268A Harbor Drive South
760-754-1881
at the harbor in Oceanside for their "world-famous" clam chowder.

It's a chain, but the Claim Jumper is very kid friendly in Carlsbad. Crayons, good kid's menu, big booths, etc.

Panera's is in the Forum shopping center.(very high class shopping area). It is on El Camino Real near the Encinitas border. There are stores like Chico's in this center, bring money :)

I don't remember the name (it may have already been mentioned here) but when we stayed at the CBI we walked east on the main drag. There was a pizza and beer place on the south side of the street that was PACKED. I think it was near the B of A. All those people couldn't be wrong, could they??:whoopie:
